Despot : Rogue State / Concert : 31 Records : 12"
Finished copy promo. A side ’Rouge State’ brings the tribal funk and a unique cinematic flavour. An emotive blend of depth and hypnotic energy. Subtly evolving but punched packed, the sub-bass lines are unmistakable. On the flip side ‘Concert’ uplifts with soulful vocals (think Erykah Badu) and a minimal glitchy backdrop. Perfect 12” for the Future beats 31 records imprint. a Despot : Rogue State b Despot : Concert / DnB / [9/22/2010]

Gridlok & Dom / Gridlok : Reboot The System Part 2 : Project 51 : 12"
Finished copy promo. This is the 2nd release in a 3 part series showcasing some of the drum and bass scene's brightest stars remixing selections from Gridlok's debut album "Break the System". Side A | Prolix (Ganja/Hardware/Virus) takes Gridlok and Dom’s storming tune “London’s Burning” and sends it even grimier, even nastier. Massive builds and massive drops, with Prolix’s signature ripping basslines in full effect. Side B | During the release of the “AUTOPSY” album we had a remix contest hosted by Sony on their Acidplanet website. The tune was called “Labrat” and the most impressive submission was by none other than drum and bass’s own Audio (Freak/Hardware/Virus). He’s come far since then having just wrapped up his new LP for Virus Recordings, but in that busy studio schedule he managed to give us a chugging new version of his remix which just couldn’t wait to be heard, so here it is! These tunes have been receiving heavy support from many of the top djs in the scene such as: Andy C, AK1200, A-Sides, Bad Company, Cause 4 Concern, Dieselboy, Ed Rush, Friction, Noisia, Pendulum, Total Science, State of Mind, the Upbeats, and many more. a Gridlok & Dom : London’s Burning (Prolix Remix) b Gridlok : Labrat (Audio Remix) / DnB / [9/22/2010]

With a string of tracks already out on Shimon's Audio Porn label, this remix of 'Polygon' for Viper is set to be their biggest track to date. Moulding ShockOne's original into an electro stomper, which then morphs into one of the biggest DnB drops of the year so far. The flip features the unmistakable vocals of MC Spyda who as well as being one of the most in demand MC's in the scene, has also been responsible for vocaling some of the biggest tracks in Drum and Bass. / DnB / [9/22/2010]

Bad Boys' sees jungle revivalist Serum team up with Steppa and Kitcha (under their Northern Lights guise) using a big sample from Inner Circle paired with crispy breakbeats and booming bass. On the flip 'House Of Pain' Kitcha's in the picture once more and the pair tease out a filthy dancefloor killer that's full of moody vibes. This is a great start to a promising new label. First released back in are in 2008 and now re-released as limited Vinyl repress. Icicle, Martyn, Proxima, Nymfo & Mindmapper lend their signature sounds to help craft an album of deep, futuristic rollers, whilst Erosie , also from Eindhoven created the stunning artwork. A great representation of the scene in Eindhoven, Holland, and Crunch's musical mantra. MC Verse is currently the frontman of the world famous Rock/Drum n Bass band Pendulum, and also on mic duties for Pendulum DJ sets alongside El Hornet. Amoss : Glurg Monster : Cyclone Recordings : 12"
Finish copy promo. a. Amoss : ‘Glurg Monster’ The atmospheric environment takes you on a journey that steadily rises & then falls into melodic breakdowns. There's an extreme contrast of slow warping, deep & dirty sublow basslines that gives this track a general dubby style, overlayed with fastpaced complex percussion patterns and face slapping snares. The Glurg Monster's been released! aa. Amoss : ‘Create More’ The flip side is quite minimalistic & glitchy, yet it's still dancefloor & rolling. The tune's intelligent progression builds all the way to the second drop, with steppy punchy kicks & snappy snares, bleeps & techy effects, intricate percussion & harmonious strings. Currently receiving heavy DJ Support from Spectrasoul, Loxy, Data, Outrage, Doc Scott, Sunchase, AMC & many more! a Amoss : Glurg Monster aa Amoss : Create More / DnB / [9/22/2010]

Temper D : Break It Down : Deadly Records : 12"
Finish copy promo. For the 23rd outing on this imprint deadlyp turns to long time producer temper d, who has had a string of releases on his own imprint and thought it’s time to spread his wings a bit wider as he comes with 2 different tunes than you would expect from him. Both tracks have been doing damage on the dance floor as this 12 offers something for the tech heads and the jump up crew. ‘break it down’ is a techy tearout tune that does what it says on the tin, a short intro that gets straight to the point rolls then gives way to destroying bass, and crazy stabs. One to check for sure. ‘wanna say’ is a gritty styled jump up track . with flowing chords thru out the intro with a whispered vocal ‘ I know what you wanna say’ paired with the crisp beats that take you to the drop. Then all hell is let lose as the gritty b-line and the beats take control clever use of the vocal aid the tracks progress. This tune does serious damage on the floor!!! Spraying sulphuric vibes into the atmosphere first up is 'Eruption', a dirty piece that's hotter than molten lava. Rock hard drums and rib crushing bass seal the deal as disgusting reeses whizz past at the speed of flying volcanic ash. Prolix teams up with Temper D on the flip to turn out 'Chainsaw'. Genotype : Mystical Mentality / Real Deal : Offkey : 12"
Finished copy promo. Enter Genotype...After the huge success of Offkey #20 The Remixes, We are proud to bring you Genotype. An Old school Hardware legend that is now back on his A-Game. This 12" for OK takes a step away from his dubbed-out outings soon to be available on Voodoo Music & Exit. The two tracks are Mystical Mentality b/w The Real Deal.It is now Genotypes turn to put his stamp on the Offkey blueprint. A Side: Mystical Mentality: The word ROLLER does not even come close to describing this number. A straight two step is laced with the most hypnotizing percussion one could imagine, bringing the track to the front of many deejays boxes. Do not be fooled into thinking this isn't Techno influenced- Check Jeff Mills 'Jet Set' release and you'll exactly what we mean, Genotype and Offkey are bringing you another angle on our blueprint and in doing so bridging the gap perfectly between techno and b-boyism. The track is underpinned a massive bass that has guaranteed rewinds & plays from London to Colombia. Time to get Mystical indeed. AA Side: The Real Deal: A break driven tear out from Genotype, amens and subs at the ready. Trademark reverbs and delays in the breakdown single towards the pressure incoming. The drop is pure vibes, and the track demands itself to be played at peak time in the set. A real treat from Genotype- splashes of Old Skool keep the track bubbling throughout and the big bass synonymous with genotype is ever present- driving the track home. Bowly : Bleeps / Idee D'un Tropique : Berkane Sol : 12"
After leaving behind the Somalian pirates, Geiom is cruising the sunny waters of the Indian Ocean when he picks up a distress signal on his scanner. He follows the signal until he locates a tiny remote island and a guy called Bowly, who said that he was on his way from France to the New World, but got totally lost. Judging by the age of the map he was using its easy to see how. Bowly spent his time on the island hanging out with the locals who amuse themselves by creating a unique style of music on some amazing handcrafted instruments. Geiom helps Bowly get on his way again, and leaves him with a more useful map. Some months later, Bowly beams over his music as a gift from his new found homeland in Canada – the tracks are like some strange mutation of those distant tropical players and the UK-based pirate radio transmissions that Bowly has been tuning into – Geiom loves the result and decides to send them straight over to Transition in London for mastering and release on Berkane Sol. This 12” has been getting played by selectors like – Subswara crew NYC (Soul Motive), Brackles (RinseFM), Grevious Angel (Soul Jazz), Martin Kemp (Blunted Robots), Cooly G (Hyperdub), Shortstuff (Ramp), Spamchop (Wigflex), Oneman (RInseFM)… a Bowly : Bleeps b Bowly : Idée D’un Tropique / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

Dark Circles are proud present Statelapse! This new exciting duo is coming thick and fast with some state of the art bassline madness! Statelapse really know what they are doing in the studio and I have been really impressed with these tunes here. It’s their debut single release and if they keep coming with tunes like this, it won’t be long until their names are up with the big guns. “Apocalypse” is no doubt my favorite tune of this single release. An epic intro starts and then drops into a carnage of bass! Big tune!! Then we have “S.U.R.P.R.I.S.E” and “Mad House” which is much of the same. Uzul [N-Type] : Ruffneg : Dub Technic : 12"
After years of work as samplers and electronic textures operator in the famous French live dub band Kaly Live Dub, Uzul decided to launch his own dub/indus live project. His influences varying from roots and old school dub to lo-fi, noise and the massive Indus electronic music from the likes of Techno Animal or Scorn made his music a subtle mix of all kind of massive electronic bass music’s. Being constantly watching for vibes traveling from other countries, he discovered Dubstep and felt in love for its huge sound and sub-frequencies focus. His true live performances shooting Dubstep into live unexplored areas gave him much respect from the heavyweights in the scene such as Skream who did a remix for his “Under Pressure E.P.” on Dub Technic in 2009. A few months after Uzul is back on record with an ultra heavy devastating track : “Ruffneg” – and a not less prestigious remixer: The award-winning Dubs tep DJ / producer and label owner N-Type, for the first time on a French label ! 2 perfect weapons to boost a dj set when the pressure seems to fall. / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

Music then took a back seat, although he had been experimenting with making tunes since 1998 all the way through and did a sound engineering course in 2003, He then joined forces with Alexander Owen (producer) and Curzed aka Skitz (DJ/producer) (check out their myspace pages!!) to form the collective known as Dub Faktory in 2005! / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

[DVA006]
Cooly G / Scratcha DVA : Dis Boy (DVA's Hi Emotions Remix) : DVA Music : 12"
Finish copy promo. The label's sixth release is no exception. DVA's remix of Cooly G's 'Dis Boy' turns an already seductive track into a spaced-out dream: in the place of Cooly's stripped down production it's got all the psychedelic electronic subtleties and twists you might expect to hear in a Berlin techno tune, but actually brings her sophisticated vocal melodies more to the fore than the original version. The rhythm's syncopations, meanwhile, move along in lazy leaps as if dancing in lowered gravity. Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 perform a similar job of total transformation on DVA's own 'Jelly Roll'. They play the original's cheeky, cheery melody backwards, forwards, sideways and upside-down, bouncing it off itself in a hall of audio mirrors and allowing glassy synths to slide between the beats and bass. It's a strange, slightly sinister and intoxicating reworking – one to get lost in. Bonus track '32Da4' is something else entirely; as you may guess from the title it's in 3 time – a bizarre, slithering dubstep waltz that flows out of the speakers and around itself in unique style. Lesser producers would build whole movements on such an innovative tune, but for DVA it's just another step in a compelling musical evolution. a Cooly G : Dis Boy (DVA’s Hi Emotions Remix) b1 Scratcha DVA : Jelly Roll (L Vis 1990 & Bok Bok Remix) b2 Scratcha DVA : 32DA4 / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

Eddie K : Serial Killa : Hench : 12"
Finish copy promo. These tracks have been causing quite a stir…So tantalisingly disgusting that the likes of Rusko, Sukh Knight, NType, Doctor P, Flux Pavillion, Jakes and Trolley Snatcha can’t leave it alone! Eddie K is no newcomer to the dance music scene. Starting out as a drum and bass producer, his debut releases made an impact amongst the scene with tracks such as Planet Terror and My Sound remaining in DJs bags to date. More recently, Ed’s been making a significant entry into the dubstep world. His first dubstep release on H.E.N.C.H (Who's the Hardest / The Shivers) had big reactions from all of the top names in the scene, which led up to his next release; his dubstep remix of DJ Prime Cuts ft. MC Dynamite : Warning, released on DSR at the end of 2009. This reached #2 in the Beatport dubstep download chart and recently featured in the latest instalment of Xbox’s ‘Crackdown’ franchise. His latest release sees him collaborate with Hench youngster, Minus, along with emphatic appearances by London-based vocalist, Beezy, and Bristol’s Shadz. If this release doesn’t serve as a tribute to the different directions dubstep has taken within recent years, then it certainly acts as proof that Eddie K’s sound and production skills have matured quicker than we could have anticipated. A: SERIAL KILLA (FT. BEEZY & MINUS) : You might well have heard about Serial Killa before hearing the track itself. Arriving just in time to establish itself as a summer dancefloor destroyer, many a raver will soon be witnessing the floor shake when this one gets dropped. Beezy’s twisted hook line cuts short the euphoric intro and lets loose to a siren-like bassline. This is the kind of track that will have the neighbours pulling the curtains shut and calling the Police. AA: STARLIGHT : A favourite of the D Style camp, Eddie K takes us on his maiden voyage into this aspect of dubstep production. Touching on the techno-tinged, atmospheric vibes similar to Komonamuk’s ‘You Fo’ release early in 2010, ‘Starlight’ is a track that would sit as comfortably in Laurent Garnier’s bag as any dubstep DJ’s. Forward thinking and high-paced the echoey background and sub bass contribute to creating one of the Hench imprint’s deepest tracks to date. a Eddie K : Serial Killa aa Eddie K : Starlight / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

DJ Absurd : L. Year / Crazy Wasteman / Kiss : Kiosk : 12"
Not long after the first volume , this second wax from Absurd on the Kiosk Records imprint delivers the right dose of energetic groundshaking Dubstep for the Bass afficionados . The A-side track "L.Year" ( do we see a certain taste for dumb wordplays here ?) will take you on a back to the future trip : while its hiphopish drum pattern embraces an heavy guitar riff wich will remind you of some of the finest 90s Fusion , its frantic and almost manic wobble part will defintaley will displace your body soul into the future ! Gettin reloads & crowd massive reaction everytime its been played so far , we could say without much risk of being wrong that its definately a tune you'd want for the hype time of your Dubstep set. On the B-side "Crazy Wasteman" has been getting a few names & words back from dj's & ravers that speak for themselves : "piratestep" ,"frenchstep","gipsystep" etc.. Basically the tune sounds like if you mix typical continental/eastern europe accordion swagger with a dubby flavour with some of the sickest drops. "Kiss" , despites its name has nothing to do with any sort of girly/ nice material , the vocal gimmick of the tracks shows again Absurd's love for childish provocation & 2nd degree jokes while the tune's general mood & drops wont leave any Bass Raver disappointed . Of course as on the first volume of the i8cops series , the artwork is on the same twisted humour note & wont leave no heads not turning back thanks to the ever improving Larry Print. / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

Finish copy promo. As with most things, the most interesting things happening in the monolith of a genre that is dubstep are happening at the fringes. cinematic second release for the brand new Berlin label One4Ho. Borrowing syncopation concepts from other genres and combining them with eerie vocal samples, One4Ho creates a mixture of dubstep that's almost new genre in itself Using the mournful vocal and drip-drop sample from Ann Peebles’ track of the same name, the wobble in ‘Can’t Stand The Rain’ sounds like a massive industrial turbine in some torrential dystopian deluge. Dark, heavy and relentless. This tune has been receiving play from the likes of Falty DL, Starkeyand Clark, who also provides a soul crunching remix that seems to flip the original track’s concept of memory, love and loss into a 3 and a half minute masterpiece of dream like emotional manipulation. a Silverman : Cant Stand The Rain b1 Silverman : Return Of The Sun b2 Silverman : Cant Stand The Rain (Clark Remix) / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

Jus Wan / DJG : Azure / Avoid The Noid Remixes : Pushing Red : 12"
With the success of Pushing Red's first two releases, we decided we would step things up with remixes from the scenes top producers in their respected genres. Both F & Headhunter need no introductions fusing unique ideas & production values when it comes to dubstep & techno. These two remixes showcase both style and class in a way that only F & Headhunter can pull off and we are truly honoured to have them involved. A. Azure (F Remix) : Kicking things off is F with a outstanding recreation of Jus Wan's already classic 'Azure'. A sneaking intro builds on the original pads before dropping into a steady snare. Growling bass slowly sneaks into the picture and drops into and perfect blend of rough & smooth. F has taken an already great tune and kept the integrity of the original, while giving it his own signature flavour. Classic remix! AA. Avoid The Noid (Headhunter Remix) : Another man who needs no introduction has graced us with a superb remix of DJG's 'Avoid The Noid'. Headhunter takes things very deep with a thumping 4/4, deep house kind of affair. A deep kick keeps the pace with deep low end that will work out any sound system. The original pads have been drawn out and sprinkled with the original key work. Fans of deep dubstep and house will love this tune and we hope as much as we do! Noah D : My Vitamin Pillbox Nikes / The Love : Rwina Records : 12"
The eighth release of the infamous Rwina Records is brought to you by Noah Dickinson, better known as Noah D, or perhaps Noah Deezy if he happened to have a Paul Wall grill in his mouth. His 2009 megahit "Seeeriousss" slammed almost every imaginable chart all over the world and established as an all-around talented and respected producer, covering the whole spectrum of sounds from food for thought to dancefloor smashers. This time, the bass music legend from Portland (USA) delivers two deeper-edged cuts spilling over with street-smart bass swagger, a bit-for-bit perfect match with the type of music that Rwina has been pushing lately. On the A-side, "My Vitamin Pillbox Nikes" is an arresting combination of gully sounds from the block and forward-thinking programming that'll tickle your brain each and every time you put this one on. The subs are one of a kind and the g-funk synthline expertly recalls the West-Side Connection glory days: bow down! On the flip, "The Love" dispatches a tender message straight from the heart, contrasted with a rough melody and harsh drums that'll make you question what sort of undertones lie beneath this tune. All things said and done, Noah D delivers a unique and fresh release that's a must for the deeper heads out there or the party-hardy jocks that want to spice up their sets without losing the impact. a Noah D : My Vitamin Pillbox Nikes b Noah D : The Love / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

Koan Sound / Koan Sound & Asa : Coast To Coast / Hesitation : Screwloose Records : 12"
Bristol boys KOAN Sound tracks are synonymous of dark gripping basslines that tear dance floors apart. . ‘Coast to Coast’ fits the filthy profile. The bassline is unpredictably sporadic and diverse and sounds like Batman beating up a rapist in a fucked up Philip K. Dick inspired dystopian future. Seriously. It makes me feel like I’m being subjected to a Voight-Kampff test whilst Harrison Ford tries to figure out if I’m a robot or not… ‘Hesitation’, a collaboration with Southampton’s downtempo maestro Asa, is a beatifically tranquil track driven by celestial vocals and lo-fi garage inspired drums. a Koan Sound : Coast To Coast b Koan Sound & Asa : Hesitation / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

Lewis B is back! If you liked his debut release we sent out before, you’re in for a tasty treat! “Rhodesalicous” is defiantly my pick of the 3 tunes, anything with a Rhodes and I’m hooked! Jazzy influenced, as you would expect from Lewis, and much like “Pinball”, Lewis has managed to keep that all important dance floor appeal. Love it! Then “Hush” on the first B side track. It's really grown on me in the last few months and has slowly crept into my sets. It's not as instant hitting as “Rhodesalicous”, but is such a pleasure to hear and always manages to take me somewhere pleasant. A great listen and plenty of fun to DJ! After a short spell away, Caspa is back with one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year on his own Sub Soldiers imprint. First up is an anthem that has been lighting up dancefloors airwaves globally as of late, in the shape of 'Back For The First Time' featuring Dub Police label mate D1. Gathering heavy support on BBC Radio 1 from Annie Mac & Zane Lowe, as well as being battered in the clubs by the who's who of dubstep A-listers this is fast becoming one of the biggest tracks to emerge from the scene so far this year and it's not hard to see why with it's catchy eutrophic chords and growling bass : this is no doubt going to be one of the tracks of the summer! On the flip Caspa teams up with another label mate; Subscape, for a tune that has torn apart countless dancefloors lately. 'Geordie Racer' takes no prisoners with its driving beats and outrageous basslines, anyone who has been lucky enough to be in a rave when this monster drops will no doubt tell you the carnage it creates in the dance. Again gaining support from dubstep royalty and being featured on Caspa's 'MyStyle' mix CD. URBAN GRAFFITI was formed in 2005 by founding members Rogue Star, D-Man and H.O.D of Urban Collective. The sole aim was to help push the sounds that were breaking new grounds to the ears of the people. The first release saw a trio of serious tracks from the well reputed 'Slaughter Mob' who helped support Urban Collective through their course of representing within the scene. This marked the beginning of what would become a never ending endeavour to push good, solid music that can stand the test of time, and cross genres through the eyes and ears of the artists producing them, yet still hold their own within dubstep, the place they were born to grow. The scenes early years were raised on experimentation, limitless possibilities of interpreting a sound but still keeping a couple of basic principles to help merge all these elements to form one entity. Rob sparx and John Maveric are back on Z Audio, this time backed up by the man of the moment “Proper Tingz” on remix duties. The original of “Windscreen Sniper” was an absolute monster of a release back late 2009! The VIP mix from Rob and John is zopped up to the max and sounds really different from the original mix. It’s more futuristic and has all those crazy basslines that sound like the synths are being sick and strangled at the same time to come out with some very abnormal sounds. All sounding fatter than a fat man at a pie eating contest though. I hope I filled you with some really happy uplifting images there ;) Then we have the remix and I have to say that the Proper Tingz remix is astonishing. He has managed to almost create his own genre within a genre and it sounds fresh, very fresh indeedy!! It’s that Proper Tingz sound that I for one am loving at the moment. I would describe it as old skool, US, Drum and bass, amen Dubstep. Take : Only Mountain : Alpha Pup : 2x12"
Sick & heavy double vinyl release on L.A.'s Alpha Pup!Real movement and positivity all the way from this very gifted producer.Beautiful packaging too. Tip! Alpha Pup is proud to present Only Mountain, the newest release from L.A.-based beat producer Take. His most powerful and fully realized work to date, Only Mountain serves as a complete affirmation of Take's ten prolific years in music production. Although prominently featured on seminal releases such as >From L.A. With Love and this year's All City 10-inch, Take is poised to make the greatest impact of his career with his newest sonic creation. From Only Mountain's opening salvo, "Before You Think," it is clear that Take has claimed his rightful place amongst the beat scene's leading luminaries. A dusty off-kilter space stomp, the track lays the ground work for an album's worth of hazy electronic textures and intergalactic breakbeats. Case in point: "Incredibright," a no-holds-barred haymaker of astro-hop swagger. On "Implosions," one of the albums more introspective tracks, Take drags us through a spaced out journey of low-end stabs and bit-crushed melodies. A dense and groundbreaking work, Take's Only Mountain stands as a staggering collection of gorgeously brilliant melodies and deep subharmonic bass. Aardvarck : Choice : Concrete : CD
Into his 25th year as a DJ, Aardvarck comes with his second full length album for Eat Concrete Records. Much in the vein of his Bloom series, but in an album context, with songs and lush internoodley bits.... TIP! With 'Choice', Aardvarck has created one of his finest selections to date. The 22 tracks go in all directions Aardvarck is known for: from bass-heavy dub to lush soundscapes, broken beats and soul vocals. After a few introducing words by Gaslamp Killer, the beautiful 'Lucky Shot' features vocals by Alexandra. The following cinematic and hypnotising ambient-like pieces are sometimes reminiscent of Boards of Canada and the Aardvarck classic ‘Find the Cow’. From then onward we are treated with songs similar to some of the recent 'Bloom' releases, displaying a taste for heavy bass, beats and dub samples. Yet 'Choice' has more to offer than dj-food alone; the album flows like a mix and keeps a light and fresh vibe along the way with lots of sketches and interludes. Aardvarck also offers some definite classics with 'Heal' and 'Find the Cow Almost', featuring guest vocals on both tracks. Timeless. / Electronic / Experimental / Hip Hop / [9/22/2010]

Ahu : To: Love : One Handed Music : 12"
Paul White produced creepy lushness from Ahu (Dolly / Flying Lotus), backed with a typically fantastic remix from Dimlite (Now Again) .... Long tipped as a vocalist to watch, Ahu steps softly from the shadows of her lauded guest appearances to deliver To:Love. It’s a captivating performance from the Turkish singer whose unique style might be found somewhere between traditional soul and the studied remove of the likes of Broadcast’s Trish Keenan. If there’s poignancy in her delivery, there is hope in the lyrics: it’s a song about the calm and freedom felt by lovers after they split. Her long-time friend and musical ally Paul White provides the subtle, ever-shifting backdrop, a nuanced electronic counterpoint to the more organic psychedelia of his recent …and the Purple Brain LP. Things take a dramatic turn on the b-side as Dimlite focuses on the tumult that precedes the post-break up relief, letting harpsichord fly into ravaged drum breaks and squalling synths before slamming the door for the very last time. It’s undeniably odd, utterly fascinating, and further evidence that this Swiss wunderkind is a very special talent. / Electronic / Experimental / Hip Hop / [9/22/2010]

Jneiro Jarel : Fauna : Kindred Spirits : LP
Jneiro Jarel returns with a new Brazilian-inspired LP for Kindred Spirits. Fauna follows up his debut album Three Piece Puzzle from 2005, and since then Jneiro has gone on to work with artists such as TV on the Radio, MF DOOM, Khujo Goodie from the Goodie Mob, as well as with his own groups and aliases like The Shape of Broad Minds, Dr Who Dat?, and Capital Peoples. Jneiro has always had a Brazilian streak to his music, dating back to Dr Who Dat’s Beat Journey, with the cover decked out in the same colours as the Brazilian flag and the standout track Braziliant Thought. But finally with Fauna he gets to create a whole album inspired by the home of the Seleção. Giving credit to his mother for turning him onto Sérgio Mendes, Tom Jobim, and Caetano Veloso at an early age, it was an inspired dig through the record collection of KS label don KC tha Funkaholic, as well as discovering Arthur Verocai and Zuco 103, that put him in the headspace to compose most of Fauna over a three month period. But while Jneiro was fired up by the melodies and rhythms of Brazil, the record is more than just a collection of beats and dusty samples. Dedicated to conservation, Fauna is made for the plants and wildlife in Brazil, many of them endangered and all of which have such a huge impact on the planet’s ecosystem. Scattered throughout the LP are the sounds of the rainforest and the Amazon, as tropical birds calls mix with dubby synths and cone-shaking sub bass, and phased vocals are panned around beats and Candomblé rhythms. Jneiro has created a unique sense of space on Fauna, which is at once hypnotic and spiritual, while also deep in the kind of studio-wizardry which has informed the stylings of so many beat producers around the world in recent years. “It’s both outer space and down-to-earth”, Jneiro says. In the same tradition as sci-fi writer Braulio Tavares, and Paraiban musician Totonho, Jneiro has created a slice of futuristic beat science rooted in Brazilian traditions, brimming with a real sense of community and ecological responsibility. We should all listen to the fauna much more closely. / Hip Hop / Experiemental / Electronica / [9/22/2010]

BACK IN STOCK!! On 6th August, Double Six are to release a 12” featuring two heavyweight remixes of Jon Hopkins tracks taken from his recent album, Insides.

First being into electro fidgety beats and getting signed on the English electro label Live-In Music, he eventually found out about a thing called dubstep. Dubstep now is his main goal, already being signed to Dubline Audio and having played along the likes of FuntCase, Cookie Monsta, Borgore, Unitz, Subscape, Crissy Criss, KOAN Sound, Ganja White Night, Sinister Souls, Osiris, Vyron, Switched Sources and more, Devnik is ready to destroy the dancefloor. a Devnik : 5 Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique b Devnik : The Fifth Sense / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

In case you didn't know already HitMan is a Dubstep Producer and part of the Dub Faktory Group and Dubstar Records. He originally started off as a Jungle/Drum & Bass DJ and switched to MCing, doing pirate and internet radio based around London, also MCing at most of the venues in his then home town : Croydon (between 1997 : 2000).

Bristol boys KOAN Sound tracks are synonymous of dark gripping basslines that tear dance floors apart. . ‘Coast to Coast’ fits the filthy profile. Rob Sparx vs John Maveric : Windscreen Sniper (VIP / Propa Tingz mixes) : Z Audio : 12"
Yeah I know, I can just see the press jumping all over this genre, very catchy and doesn’t sound like someone is taking the piss at all ;) Okay, I think I’ve talked enough shizen here and will let you lovely people get on and listen to the music. / Dubstep / [9/22/2010]

Truly future music towards a brighter end. / Electronic / Experimental / Hip Hop / [9/22/2010]

Jon Hopkins : Four Tet / Nathan Fake Remixes : Domino : 12"
BACK IN STOCK!! On 6th August, Double Six are to release a 12” featuring two heavyweight remixes of Jon Hopkins tracks taken from his recent album, Insides. Hot on the heels of Jon’s hypnotic remix of Four Tet’s Angel Echoes (July 19th), Kieran Hebden here returns the favour, delivering his hardest uptempo offering for a while, a garage-tinged remix of Vessel. Retaining all the beauty of the original but aligning it with the dancefloor, he builds clouds of euphoria over the original’s slamming bass. The 12” is b/w a stamping freeform techno reworking of Wire, from Border Community’s Nathan Fake. Following his improvised performance with Brian Eno and The Necks at the Brighton Festival last month, and an acclaimed performance at MUTEK in Montreal last week, Jon Hopkins will be playing live at a few select festivals across the world this summer including Electric Zoo Festival, New York. / Dubstep / Electronica / [9/22/2010]

Gella [Run Riot / Caper] : Force Feedback : Valium : 12"
What can be said about Gella that hasn't already been said this last few months? We at VALIUM have been supporting Gella's unique sound for sometime, and his remix earlier this year, Force Feedback, went down a storm. For this release we have bought in two very different, up and coming producers to take the original in two very different directions. Run Riot picks it up and pumps it full of steroids and runs off at 100 miles per hour down the hard shoulder! Massive electro influences ensure this is a peaktime party banger. Caper opts for the breakstep, dubstep route with a much more chilled, rolling affair. Support for this release comes from Cut La Roc, Annie Nightingtale, Rack N Ruin, Rob Da Bank and Eddie Temple Morris to name a few! / Dubstep / Breaks / [9/22/2010]
