Will Saul & Mike Monday [Scuba] : Sequence 1 EP : Aus Music : 12"
Inspired by the stripped back technical set-ups of yesteryear, Mike Monday and Will Saul present the ‘Sequence 1’ EP, the product of the two artists limiting themselves to a Roland 909, a Korg Kaos Pad, a Dave Smith Polyevolver and recording their jamming on the fly. “We wanted to inject some excitement, energy and randomness into this release, so decided to play the tracks live with Mike on the 909 and keys and Will on filters and effects. We had a broad idea of where we were going before we pressed record, and recorded a few takes of each track, then took the best moments from each. The big challenge was reining in the slightly chaotic recordings, but after some tweaking we found a balance between old school rawness and modern production values.” Having previously released together on Buzzin’ Fly, remixed for DFA (The Juan Maclean’s legendary ‘Happy House’) and Applepips (Appleblim & Ramadanman), the duo present two exclusive tracks that explore the cutting edge leftfield sounds of house music in typical Aus form. Future collaborative efforts will see a remix for Scuba (whose high octane remix of Sequence 1 features as the B-side on this EP) on Hot Flush which will be out in September. In addition to their work together, both artists are currently in the process of completing their forthcoming solo artist albums. Mike Monday’s album is a project that will see him write and release a new track for free on his website every Monday for 10 weeks. A new means of creating and distributing musical material, the final 10 tracks will make up the content of the album. With a release set for Spring 2011, Will’s second full artist album will feature collaborations with Joe Dukie (Fat Freddy’s Drop), Paul St. Hilaire, Charlene Soraia, and Detachments amongst others. Aus Music’s sister label Simple celebrates it’s 50th single release in November 2010 - a release that will see Will and his long term production partner Tam Cooper team up for a limited edition vinyl double pack / Minimal / Tech-House / [9/27/2010]

Onur Ozer : Clavichordrama : Cocoon : 12"
One cannot appreciate the artistic approach of Onur Özer in its full depth without referring to his cultural origins. After all, Istanbul has been a place to meet and to exchange thoughts, not only regarding the trade between the continents, but especially regarding fine arts. So, it only seems consequent that Özer’s music instruments a location somewhere ‘in-between’. Since 2005, his tracks - and his acclaimed 2007 debut “Kasmir” - are released on the Berlin-based label Vakant and belong to the most exciting music that Techno had to offer over the last few years. No wonder that musicians like 2Raumwohnung and Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan have been counting on Onur’s remix talents. The brilliant opener of his 12″ debut on Cocoon Recordings, “Clavichord", takes a Hammond-like organ sound as the starting point for what becomes a hard-to-catch and multi-rhythmic event, where the bass drum emerges not until the track is running already three minutes, forming a sheer vibrating fantasy of almost 12 minutes out of untamed energy that needn’t to be afraid of any comparison with the tracks of Ricardo Villalobos, for instance. The flipside “Oval” is drawing this bow further to an open reverb room that houses permanent layer sounds, choir and signal-horn sounds, as well as LFO impulses, before after five minutes the bass drum finally takes you by the hand. Futurist Techno that needs some time to listen to, but can also surprise you with sound sensations never heard before, even after playing the track a 100 times. / Minimal / Tech-House / [9/27/2010]

Todd Bodine : Frorm Nowhere To Somewhere : Klangfarbe : 12"
For their fifth release Todd Bodine (Highgrade, Treibstoff, Mothership) joined the cologne based Label Klangfarbe Schallplatten and created a high-quality EP, which is hard to find today. “Duplexer” (A1) initially allocates with Bongos in space, to furthermore stabilize itself with more bass, percussion and volume, which leads into a durable, massive flow that´s willing to persist bigger club duties as well. “Alpha” (B2) is structurized akin to “Duplexer", but celebrates the true force, the true might of Minimal by the use of consistently repetition of beat- and sound patterns as also psychedelic Acid-parts in good, old Plastikman tradition. “Morning Breeze” on B2 finally starts warmer and more housy, in a deep and easy Lean-Back manner, to distinctly cool down after a while and to approach the previous tracks. After all, the “From Nowhere To Somewhere EP” constitutes an extremely coherent EP, where it´s obvious, that all three tracks mate together - as they are. / Minimal / Tech-House / [9/27/2010]

No Fit State [Solomun / Chopstick & Tilley] : Sampler : No Fit State : 12"
Murmur has become a gem in the stone path of electronic music labels, a consistent voice of quality through their series of vinyl and global events. 'No Fit State' is a vinyl sampler for the label, bringing together some gifted artists and insightful music to celebrate the label's journey. Claire Ripley opens the package with a Solomun remix of 'Slow Loris', released earlier this summer on 'Timorous' EP. Best known for releases on Steve Bug's Dessous Recordings, Claire is an undeniable talent with flair for getting the feet moving. Solomun pulls the trigger with his remix in a capricious whirlwind track setting the skies alight with energy. Label head Geddes pairs up for another collaboration with the skilled young Australian, Mic Newman, after big releases on the Tsuba label as well as murmur. [TARTELET013]
V/A : Lucky Number 13 : Tartelet : 12"
Tartelet Number Thirteen is nonetheless ready to dispel once and for all the myth of unluck associated with the storied number. Tahloula’s ‘We Play House’ in a remix incarnation by Chris Lattner is at last ready for release after figuring in charts and steadily garnering hype for more than a year. Louise Marie Tüxens charming lyrics are sung on a morphing and modern house beat while a devastating organ-stab pushes the track on endlessly. A classic New York bass-line injects head-nodding and foot-tapping while small vocal snippets and fills create a layered floor-destroyer. A tune that easily could - and nearly did - stand alone, but to the luck of the listeners more is in store for them. Emil & Chesper, allows us the joy of putting out ‘The Nigerian Hustle’. Dark and funky with rolling basslines and shadowy percussion, this track is heavily rooted in both Berlin’s minimalism and Detroit’s groovyness. To top off the good fortune is James Braun & Ubebe’s “Neotony” - A percussion-oriented tech-house track reminiscent of Chicago, where banging toms and vintage 808 claps all merge together to form a shining synergy, while blue chords and floating strings engulfs the listener. / Minimal / Tech-House / [9/27/2010] http://www.sectormediadistro.com/audio/TARTELET013.m3u

V/A : 10 Years Love: Volume Two : Terminal M : 12"
2010 sees the ten year anniversary of Terminal M. 'Ten Years In Love With Music.' To celebrate our first ten years we are releasing two 12" compilation EP's, plus digital bonus tracks, from well known Terminal M artists and some exciting newcomers. July saw the release of 'Volume One', the finest of first courses, which featured tracks from Stimming, Fabio Neural and Olderic. Today we present 'Volume Two', with music from Eric Sneo, Erman Erim, Luca Morris and Drehkontrolle, all backed solidly by our digital cuts from Manon and Gabriel Rocha. Whether its as resident of the famous 'Palazzo' (1998), party promoter (2002's TanzDer Familie), co-founder of the Master Of Disaster and Beatdisaster labels or German and International chart artist (2003's 'Ciao Bella', Tube Tech 'The End'), Eric Sneo has been at the forefront of electronic music for over twenty years. The multi-instrumentalist's live show currently sees him touring Europe's festival circuit, but he's found time to rework his 2008 number 'TM Reloaded'. A Carl Cox favourite, the original has been moulded into a hugely funky, tech-house roller. Neumarkt lad and label regular Erman Erim brings yet more of his melodic charm in the form of 'Whistled Wisdom'. With three EP's and two remixes already under his belt for the label, Erman has established himself as a firm favourite with the team. His energetic live sets and unique vocal-led productions are a pleasure for both listener and DJ alike, and this brand new production is no different. Inspired by his regular visits to Sevilla, 'Whistled Wisdom' with its deep throbbing bassline, bongos and Spanish vocal (from the man himself) is another real highlight for the label. / Minimal / Tech-House / [9/27/2010]

Gunnar Stiller [Loko] : Far From Ok : Upon You : 12"
Gunnar Stiller has always been known for producing dance floor “DESTROYERS", even if “Far from Okay” sounds a bit like a floor wax accident there’s no need for the timid raver soul to get worried about slipping and falling. Soft accords sedate the mind, the bass pumps in the adrenaline and a voice softly whispers that everything is going to be just fine…all you need to do is dance. When the Janitor Loko mops over the UY 038 floor with his remix you can even walk over it on the highest of high heels. It does in fact, get a bit rougher when the lights go out on “some kind of weird” and the smoke machine goes starts pumping. That’s when its “black piste” time and that’s no place for Heidi Klum or techno beginners…but who wants to be a model anyway, right? / Minimal / Tech-House / [9/27/2010]

Marc Houle : Drift : Minus : 2x12"
“This album is about the cold dark grey Berlin winter” - Marc Houle. A simple statement, sure - but anyone who experienced Berlin during the winter of 2009 / 2010 will know exactly where Marc is coming from. Each day and night the temperature remained below freezing, the sky grey from an unsettling lack of sun. Ice covered streets from Kreuzberg to Prenzlauer Berg. The conditions did, however, grant Marc the opportunity to spend all of his waking hours in the studio, absorbing the warm welcoming heat generated from his analogue synths. The experimentation during this winter period was the catalyst for Marc’s latest long-player for Minus - quite possibly his most accomplished and personal release to date. ‘Drift’ is an album of tracks inspired by the prolonged Berlin winter, and the depression, which it so often causes - from the chill of the coldest nights felt on tracks such as ‘Inside’ and ‘The Next’, through to songs that encompass the frustrations of gray skies such as ‘Seeing In The Dark.’ Marc has created a season of emotions and in doing so put forth his own personal frustrations towards what is considered ‘techno’ in its most basic form. Locking himself away during a winter season to fully embrace his own idealism has resulted in an album on which his rebellious nature and desire for a more experimental musical mentality has cast him further from the standard practice of our techno underworld. His grievances are at their most clear on the title track, which is an intense, and ultimately angry, techno belter produced as the winter season caused feelings less of ‘beauty’ and more of suffocation. ‘Drift’ is not without moments in which the sunlight peeks through the layers of heavy clouds, however. Tracks such as ‘Sweet’ and ‘Hitcher Man’ provide the audible interpretation of a person dreaming of warmer climates. / Minimal / Tech-House / Electronica / [9/27/2010]

[CADENZA54]
Michel Cleis : Un Dolce : Cadenza : 12"
Whether he’s producing singalong house anthems (’La Mezcla’) or hard edged tech house (’Red Tape’), Michel Cleis’ obsession with sound has seen him garner a reputation as one of electronic music’s most exciting production forces. With recent remixes such as Tracey Thorn’s ‘Why Does The Wind?’ and Harrison Crump’s ‘Deep Down Inside’ still rocking dance floors aplenty, Cleis’ next solo move has understandably been an eagerly anticipated one. Which is exactly why, for our 54th release, Cadenza are extremely proud to once again present the talents of the multifaceted Swiss native. Featuring two intricately produced tracks, and showcasing the contrasting elements of Cleis’ musical fabric, the ‘Un Dolce’ EP represents the producers penchant for uptempo house music and more soulful, restrained melodies in equal measure. On the opening track, the percussion fueled ‘Litoral’, brash drum patterns and a barrage of shakers make for a perfect introduction, before a sublimely crafted, trumpet led melody acts as the perfect backdrop for the harmonious latin vocal. With a summery vibe that’s sure to prompt many a dance floor smile, ‘Litoral’ is unpretentious house music at its most sincere and purest form. The ying to ‘Litoral’s yang is ‘Don Fiore’, another percussive, albeit melancholy sounding effort. Again, Cleis introduces proceedings via an onslaught of stripped back percussion, before injecting the track with an eerie melody that crops up around the 3/4 mark. As soon as the latter hits, you’ll no doubt already be captivated by the tracks fat bass and dreamy, escapist qualities. Culminating matters is the digital only extended mix of ‘Don Fiore’. Clocking in at at over seventeen minutes, this remix is anything but self indulgent, and more an exercise in manipulation of sound. With every millisecond used to full effect, Cleis takes the listener on an epic sounding journey few other producers in his field are capable of. / Minimal / Techno / [9/27/2010]

Psyk : Throes : Figure : 12"
Hailing from Madrid, Psyk is the newest member of the growing Figure roster. Having put out a small but very respectable collection of releases so far, his talents were spotted by Len Faki, and thus a powerful modern techno EP was born. We are launched head first into Psyk's world with 'Throes'. In classic figure style, we encounter iron-forged beats and menacing bass textures before a devastating array of foggy sirens combine to bring the tension to its peak! The sharp, undulating tones of 'Cutting Edge' are nothing short of what the title claims. Engineered for the world's biggest clubs, its no wonder that Len was won over by Psyk's productions after play testing them on his home turf in Berghain. This tough tool will shake down the rafters! 'Retrospective' is a trippy jam characterised by thick bass swells and intense climbing technoid surfaces. Certainly not one to hold back, Psyk lays it on thick with this equally pumping floor-freaker. / Techno / [9/27/2010]

Screed is the new Acid Techno orientated project from labelowner and artist Guilty Gramatics and a 'special friend'. Ceephax Acid Crew/ Acid Quiff : Wild Westie / Romantic Gestures : Kitchen Dweller : 12"
A mushroom & coriander curry is the recipe you get free with the latest Ceephax 12", a split with Acid Quiff called 'Romantic Gestures' 'Tis the 3rd release on Kitchen Dweller & is a right old, crackerjack lo-fi wibbly mess on blue vinyl. The 3 Ceephax tracks kinda makes me think of Jenkinson Jr's take on Chaos AD, his brother DIY one off mad fest on Rephlex, much more silly, random & sketchy but not without some real charm & some real mental Universal Indicator style 303 insanity in parts. Proper gibbering toytown stuff. Acid Quiff side is pretty darn fine too, just dark, scratchy underground experimental acid, staggering around with old skool electro beats starting fights with warped slow rave stabs & some fine samples. Definitely my fave side is this, really twisted music from a one man mind. Mental. Makes me think of Michael Forshaw, Deeviem, DIN-ST, that sorta mangled rave gear, renegade acid bad trip stuff. Roberto Bosco : Biosphere EP : Minimal Soul : 12"
Roberto Bosco is becoming a household name these days in Electronic Music. He burst on to the scene with a remix of Juan Atkin's classic "Game One" in 2007 on Orlando Voorn's NightVision Records. Since then, he's gone on to get praise from François K, who has regarded Roberto's music as "having an effortless quality; an almost dazzling sense of ease that masks a very strong foundation; a depth and musical maturity that belies his young age. This penned him to his 'My Universe' EP release on Wave Music earlier this year. Now, Mr. Bosco has outdone himself with this 2 tracker EP release for Minimalsoul Recordings. Simply put, it's a timeless journey into the new sound of Electronic Music as we know it today. Nax_Acid & Bioni Samp : Ghost Bus : Aconito : 12"
Going home late one foggy night in London, I turn the corner to see my bus waiting at the bus stop, lights on, doors open, completely empty. I get on the bus and wait, a few minutes later the driver gets on, he was hiding behind a tree. Now I always call it the Ghostbus. Stopping and starting, traveling along are the landscapes of sound recordings, perfectly balanced between synthetic and abstract layers of sounds. Ghostbus invites you to travel along an electronic road of pulses and distortion, a travel between vintage and modern atmospheres, shifting into automatic vintage synthesis gears, a journey into the dark and cold nights of London. Samp gives this music his trademark 'ambience in confined spaces' sound, helped along by nAX_acid both in collaboration and with his own edit version. / Techno / Minimal / [9/27/2010]

Function / Silent Servent / Regis : Sampler Single One : Sandwell District : 12"
As Sandwell District prepares to release it's first full length album this Fall, the ever enigmatic, 'art brut' collective teases us with two various artist, pre-album, sampler 12"s featuring original tracks and edits from Function, Silent Servant, Regis and Female. And the result, as you would expect, is some of the most beautiful, forward thinking techno to surface in years. With no track titles on offer, this first 12", lovingly pressed on clear vinyl, opens with "Intro", a collaboration between Regis and Function that sets the tone for both records with a sonic, industrial landscape which explores the depths of Sumner's classic SH-101 analog bass tones mixed with the perfect, subtle balance of O'Connor's expert noise treatments. Next up, Function delivers another one of his modern, yet ancient gems. This arpeggiated, cosmic masterpiece encapsulates timeless techno with it's stringy, otherworldly demeanor, investigating time and space in the same vein you would expect from early Red Planet and R&S. On to the B-side, Regis delivers a mind blowing, dub-step tinged edit of Silent Servant, utilizing Mendez's lush, Kraftwerkian strings combined with Master Regis' thunderous undercurrent, this forms the perfect counterpart for Sumner's contribution and hones in the dreamlike quality found on both of these 12"s. Finally, the B2 track is a hidden, uncredited one minute experimental bass track, with an almost John Carpenter type feel that no one has claimed responsibility for..... / Techno / Minimal / [9/27/2010]

Femail / Silent Servant / Regis : Sampler Single Two : Sandwell District : 12"
The second and final installment in Sandwell District's pre-album sampler series (this time pressed on translucent blue vinyl), opens with Silent Servant's unedited original which picks up where his massive "Discipline" left off. This monstrous slab of warehouse techno slowly builds, stops for a moment to breath, and then unleashes an epic release, only then to wind down into a impressive outro reminiscent of Kraftwerk's best work, further capturing the illusory sound put across in these two 12"s. On the B-side, Silent Servant delivers another proper slab of dancefloor hypnotica, this time exploring more tonal frequencies which include a sonar-eque pulse and eventually breaks into classic 'Silent Servant' melancholic chords. And finally, the last contribution is Female again by way of a Regis edit. This comes in the form of a visionary dubstep / techno hybrid which casts a spell and captivates the listener with it's dark, trance-inducing mantra. Aubrey [Skudge] : Evacuation / Shimmer : Syncrophone : 12"
Since his first vinyl release back in 2008 the Parisian producer VAROSLAV has been carving his own sound. 'Groovy, sexy and energetic' are words that have been used to describe his style, and he can move from creating the most delicate of house to the energetic and mature sounds of techno with ease. Skills that have also seen him perform his task as A&R for Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts label with great success.'Ghost Voyager' sees Varoslav drop two, tough, dancefloor driven cuts. The title track opens with its tough beats and tight funk guitar licks. A warped and wobbly stab, and trippy flute line enter the fray as a thunder clap announces the vocal and warm keys. The cavernous break refreshes before we drop back into the track.'Fake Beauties' with its bubbling bass, fluid motion and open hats, is a more low slung affair. Its popping beats envelop the bassline, creating a locked on groove. The twisted chimes in the break create a spooky atmosphere, as we drop back into the groove. Our two superb originals are backed brilliantly by a diverse mix package. In form Canadian producer Carlo Lio takes on 'Ghost Voyager' a surprisingly deep yet rolling rework. A weighty groove drives the mix as Carlo chops up the vocal and adds a splash of the keys. Next up, Marco Resmann steps off the Luna City Express to deliver his take on the title track. A smooth groove, open hats and key stabs pave the way for the heavy kick drum.

This penned him to his 'My Universe' EP release on Wave Music earlier this year. Now, Mr. Bosco has outdone himself with this 2 tracker EP release for Minimalsoul Recordings.

Deep, trippy and delightful / Techno / Tech-House / [9/27/2010]

James Taylor is back home together with his long time partner David Brown for more Swayzak superbe releases. Logistic goes for a short serie of 2 ep’s to be released in a raw. First Ep : 2 tracks cut in 45 rpm for the best sound quality. A side «Rons Connecticut Dub» is a deep house track with dubby bass line reminiscent of old swayzak and inspired by ron , chez and co. B side «Montanza» has a gloomy, sexy bass line for a more funky techno dancefloor orientated track which also has a sweet musical colour that nicely makes you fly away. The production is spacy all sounds are where they should be on this Ep. Sound fat ! Stay tune for the follow up. We always keep the best for the end.. / House / [9/27/2010]

It may only be 12 releases old, but Quartz Records has already become one of the 'go to' imprints for those seeking quality modern Techno and that is down to the hard work and fantastic a&r'ing of label chief Paul Ritch. The label was launched by Ritch himself with his 'Split EP' and after featuring music from the likes of Dubfire, Thomas Muller, Slam, Hermanez, Nic Fanciulli, David K & Jerome Pacman, Carlo Lio and label manager Okain, we come full circle with Paul's incredible 'Canniballs: Part 2' EP. January's 'Canniballs EP' was an instant hit and its tracks including 'The Lick' and 'Suffolk' have become staple regulars in the sets and charts of the biggest names. Part 2 is another superb selection of treats. 'Spirit' with its sweeping atmospheric, metallic percussion and abrasive synths, rolls brilliantly with its funky bassline. 'Bomberos' opens with a darker feeling. Its tough drums, bells and vocal sample lead us to its sily key riff which, when joined by the tracks bassline, takes it to another level. Closing the EP is 'Modelo'. The most sinister of the three cuts, its a melting pot of sounds and efx. Industrial in its opening, its scything sounds are joined by haunting string stabs and a final siren / House / [9/27/2010]

Following on from the superbly received debut release, Waiting Game, Sudden Drop produces the goods once more with a split release that’s destined to go down well with the more discerning DJ. First off is a summer uplifting slice of pure sunshine house music from Iron Curtis called ‘Stranded’. When we first heard the track we were truly blown away and were willing to beg, borrow and steal to crowbar it out of his hands. Fortunately for us he was more than willing to release it with us anyway without resorting to illegal means and so we have what we consider to be Iron Curtis’ best work to date. Super rounded, warm beats give way to uplifting piano stabs that are bound to put a smile on even the most pessimistic lips. Flip over for the equally fabulous remix of previous release ‘Waiting Game’ by RNDM. He is someone we’ve been keeping an eye on for a while – along with his sometime production partner Efdemin (as Pigon) we think they’re two of the best producers out there. / House / [9/27/2010]

The Reboot Joy Confession : Spirit Of The Planets : Philpot : 12"
COLOURED VINYL! “I met Dwight in the desert of nowhere. We somehow knew we would be there at the moment where it took place. No surprise, I mean the crash. 3 times for them to finally got out of nowhere back into nowhere. While I was playing the flute Dwight held a ritual, spreading energy through his voice. After the reboot, they took off immediately (I can swear something happened to the power plant control…). For us it was like a b-movie, like all never happened…but the communication, talking to the spirits from language to language planet to planet…and the wind don´t forget the wind. After we came home we wrote this one….” RJC Philpot presents this debut 12inch of The Reboot Joy Confession - our brothers from nowhere! The title track is a mindbending spiritual journey hosting the fabulous Dwight Trible on some next level beatdown xtravaganca while the flip features the massive DiscoNoDisco “1999″ and the equally heavy “Funkin Facets". …more than a proper statement and the beginning of the RJC aera!! “Thanks for listening and purchasing a real copy!” / House / Tech-House / Experimental / [9/27/2010]

Detroit Grand Pubahs [Robert Hood / DJ 3000 / Samuel L] : Madd Circus : Detelefunk : CD
Those fine purveyors of funk-fuelled electronics, Detroit Grand Pubahs are back with their fourth studio album this September. This time the crazed ringmaster, Paris The Black Fu resides overthe ‘Madd Circus’ with his equally deranged side-kick, Mr.O making sure that the animals are entertained and the kids are kept in check. Or should that be the other way round? Originally founded in Detroit back in 1998, the Pubahs have been on a constant voyage of recovery ever since. Bringing a touch of Funkadelic to what can be a rather stale techno scene, the Pubahs’ unique voice and image injects humour and drama into the one thing they take most seriously above all else, their music. For the Pubahs are no novelty act, there is method to the madness and bass in the badness. It..s all about personality (well split personalities) and a mission to put the fun(k) back into techno. Whilst the previous two Pubah’s albums ‘Galactic Ass Creatures From Uranus’ and ‘Nuttin Butt Funk’ could be seen as a technorump- obsessed double-bill, ‘Madd Circus’ sees the duo return to the booty, electro-pop and funk of their critically acclaimed debut ‘Funk All Y’all’ and the skizoid electro of Paris’s debut solo release ‘The Mad Circus EP’ back in ‘99 on Detroit indie label Throw. As Paris himself states, “this album is a journey into the booty electro and pop contempo - almost funk but not quite so.” What we have is a left turn for the Pubahs as they prepare to sell tickets and open the doors to the Madd Circus. Did someone say dead elephants, tigers and horses? No they‘re not dead just driven madd by the Ring Master FU and the freak inhabited Mr O. From the opening electro-pop of ‘Autotragik’ and recent single ‘NUmb Deaf and Dumb’ (see video on www.senmusictv.com) the Pubahs are back on top electro form. The electro booty of ‘Zombies Playing Dead’ fits well with the skittish, Drexciyan style funk of the closing ‘Clone Mobile’ whilst tracks such as ‘Mashed Potato’ are pure, unrefined funk. / Electronic / Indie / Electro / [9/27/2010]

V/A : The Mission Continues Vol. 1 : Elux : 2xCD
As most people already thought electronica and chill out have been for ever spoiled and degraded to cheap sell out labels by those countless and tasteless lounge and Ibiza compilations, a CD came flying in, ready to save us from this jazzyloungychill-mess of the last years and re-new our perspective on this genre. This creation is entitled 2000 and Space and is nothing less than the latest project of Alex Azary and his from elektrolux to elux records re-labelled imprint, which has been responsible for various seminal projects and releases since beginning of the nineties. Especially with the euro wide broadcasted TV nightshow Space Night on Bavarian stations br and br- alpha, Alex Azary significantly contributed to establishing electronic sounds and music in German TV, film and other massmedia, even making it into feuilettons of prestigious German papers ‚Die Zeit’ and ‚F.A.Z.’. That was 1996 up to 2001. The last Space Night compilation Alex Azary compiled was Vol. 9. following attempts to keep the series going and benefit from the cult status of the series, can be described best as “me too". This in mind, it doesn’t come as a surprise to see the shows for which the music has been selected by Alex Azary still on air every night, after more than ten years… Now Alex Azary and elux records present their 2k version of this format in full HD and with fresh new tracks, entitled ‚2000 and Space’. Accompagning the TV Pilot (…on Blu-ray soon!) elux records presents ‚2000 and Space – The mission continues. Vol. 1’, a simply remarkable Double CD Compilation, assembling the most sought after and talented electronic artists and producers of now. / Electronica / Tech-House / [9/27/2010]

Luke Million [Mighty Mouse] : Italo Journey : Future Classic : 12"
Luke Million is a fellow out of Adelaide, Australia and is the hectic keys player and synth wizard in The Swiss. He often starts his morning by bench pressing his Yamaha CP-70 and drinking 3 or 4 shakes of reel to reel tape. Part I of your journey starts with stomping kicks, spaced out toms and cosmic stabs of Italo passion. Part II of the journey sticks you in your Ferrari, just living life at 120 BPM on nothing but chunky slap bass and arpegiated keys. The UK duo Mighty Mouse yank you from the drivers seat and plants you on the floor at the discoteque, beefing up the drama, working their piano rolls and busting out a synth solo sure to make you undo that last button on your Italian silk shirt. Octobussy is Million’s nod to French composer / producer Jean Michel Jarre, handsome vintage sounds of space and the future. The Spiral mix is all atmosphere while the Oxygene mix channels everything we love about Italo disco and outer space. The perfect tunes for catching up with Rick Deckard and hunting replicants to. Bringing the journey to an end we have a vinyl only treat from New York miscreant Brennan Green. Brennan throws on the gel and works out an 11 minute saga, taking those killer leads from the original and crafting a chugging drum beat with an out of nowhere change up thrown in for good measure. / Disco / Nu-Disco / Electronica / [9/27/2010]

Prins Thomas joins another dot to his global Internasjonal network with this latest offering from japanese duo Traks Boys, consisting of Kawasaki based producers and Djs Crystal and K404. the mid-tempo house track “starburst” paints a perfect acoustic picture of a celestial phenomenon with it’s glittering and rotating synth loops that are condensed more and more before erupting into a ray of beautiful sound cascades. PRINS THOMAS highlights the magic melodic synth lines with his hypnotising beatless remix. “Yellowbirds” on the flip is another marvelous piece of space boogie with a playful, cheeky far eastern music box melody. TBD ( DFA records ) - aka Lee Douglas of Rong fame and Justin Vandervolgen who recently released on Golf Channel - close this brilliant 4 tracker with a totally irrestistible driving peaktime take: just drop your spaceguns and surrender to the beat. Cours Lapin : Debut Album : Fake Diamond : CD
NME favoured Scandinavian/French Indie Pop Sensation Cours Lapin with their much acclaimed Debut. Think if Domino are to release the ultimate Vanessa Paradis album she never did and Sigur Ross to produce it together with Benjamin Biolay- this would be it! The music is beautifully gloomy with wonderfully catchy melodies. The acoustic instruments are complimented by a few subtle electronic elements, which create an intense atmosphere around Louise Alenius’ fragile vocals and melancholy lyrics. Whilst the songs “Mes larmes secrets (My secret tears)” and “1,2,3″ are delivered with a classic innocence inspired by Classic French Chanson Traditions, “Cache-cache (Hide and seek)” and “Cours lapin (Bunny run)” mix sexy jazzy nightclub sounds with a couple of old-school surf-riffs. Bright and Unique but also Soothing and amorph Un, Deux, Trois is one of the most complete Indie Pop Albums we heard this year, Cours Lapin played Roskilde Festival as well as a Notttinghill Arts Club in 2010 to a rapturous reception from both audiences and the critics and got rave revious all over europe from French “Les Inroctibles” to leading Uk indie Mag “Drowned in Sound” . / Lounge / Indie / [9/27/2010]
