Lady Blacktonica : First Lady of Beatdown EP : Your Only Friend : 12"
The journey begins with Lose My Life. Lady Blacktronika lays down her soulful vocals, deep bass and moody keys over simple and captivating motorcity beats. Deep, groovy and hypnotic, the overall sound is far more than the sum of its parts. Moody Beatdown soul, only for the headstrong. The second track on this EP is an alternate mix of the title track, Lose My Life (Dark Love Beatdown Dub) is bigger and badder than the already stunning original. This bad boy drags it out, makes you want it and then gives it to you hard. The third track on this release is Summertime In The City. A slamming Chicago House groove with edgy stabs, moody keys, and soulful vocal by Mattski Avalos. The subtle builds and changes are sure to keep you locked in the groove till the very end. To round off this EP, Never Everything brings you back with this emotionally charged track. Melancholic yet sweet and uplifting, it is a window into the very heart and soul of Your Only Friend: Lady Blacktronika. About Your Only Friend Recordings: "Barcelona is a city that knows its tunes and these guys are right at the heart of the Barça underground. Whatever the style, when they're on the turntables you know the groove will be proper, locked in, dancefloor business. So now they're starting a label, we'd better listen carefully." - Andy Cato (Groove Armada - Pack Up and Dance) / House / Tech-House / [10/14/2010]

Bot'Ox [I:Cube / Para One] : Blue Steel Remixes : I'm A Cliché : 12"
Due to popular demand and before the release of their first album "Babylon by car", Bot'ox asked to a bunch of talented producers to remix their pop single "Blue Steel". Para One and Tacteel are celebrating their come back with a outstanding midtempo remix. Classy, elegant, a must ear ! Liv Spencer and Eric Duncan aka Still Going show once again they've turned into masters of modern Italo Disco and High NRJ, and deliver a real banger. I Cube produced here a sharp and addictive deep vision of the tune using their usual talented producer skills. Finnish Hannulelauri, responsible for one of our crush of this year with "Super Monkey", make their own version keeping the pop vibes of the Original. Greg Shiff [Adultnapper / Tony Rohr] : Im With An Animal EP : Hidden Recordings : 12"
A few times a year, a label releases a single that rocks the industry and the upcoming release from Hidden Recordings does just that. Gregory Shiff, who has also released off of such high caliber label's as Stewart Walker's Persona label in Berlin, produced the original and the label enlisted techno luminaries Adultnapper, Tony Rohr and Pheek, along with Deepak Sharma and Dieter Krause to add remixes to put together a five track monster that will, and should be in the crates of DJs around the world for the rest of this year and beyond. The best part about the release? The remixers brought their A-game and put forth effort that has helped make them some of techno's most revered producers and artists. Martin Eyerer / Bjan : In My House : Airdrop : 12"
On the occasion of Martin Eyerer's North-American debut, Airdrop comes up with "In My House", a blockbuster of a track like only this one man can craft. Literally showing the rest of the world how he gets it done in his house, or studio rather, Martin blends house vox and chords with his signature technique and groove. Maetrik pushes the staggering effect even further with a remix that will stay carved in dancefloor history! Also on the record is NYC's Crazy Larry, bringing his very personal analog interpretation to the "In My House" theme. With a new vinyl coming out on Hallucination Ltd, Three's label, and new Glacier productions - with partner Pier Bucci - profiling on the horizon, Larry is the man of the situation! Two bonus versions come rounding off a full package. Punisher, Detroit's princess delivers a roaring remix using all of Martin's elements, processing them through her crazy machines and adding up her raging touch. Marc Neyen : Children's Corner : Archipel : 12"
From Luxembourg but now living in Berlin, Marc Neyen delivers his first album "Esmeralda" on Archipel. This vinyl EP is an extract of two of the most touching tracks of his LP. "Children's Corner" is a song where Marc shows his acute sense of expressing emotions through his jazz training he received in Amsterdam. The song might remind you of Villalobos or Pronsato, but Marc finds his personal interpretation to make this smooth, warm tech house song perfect for any moment where you need introspection in a bright way. "I Move Alone" shows Marc's ability to guitar playing where he brings techno to whole new world with gentle melodies follows tech house grooves. / Minimal / Tech-House / [10/14/2010]

Jason Dunlap & Reese Turns : Reflex : Hej Records : 12"
HEJ RECORDS drops another E.P. by JASON DUNLAP (Chicago) & REESE TURNS (Australia), a forward thinking techno team, creating innovative tracks together despite the challenge of being separated by thousands of miles. This is a pair to watch out for, carving out a sound that is distinctly their own, yet unlike anything else in a highly saturated market. The A side track "BC" is a like a chameleon taking shape to any environment it's played in, whether it be chilling at a day party or rocking the dance floor mid set, this tune will deliver the momentum you need. Atmospheric tones set the mood followed by a thick sub bass and heavy kick. The groove builds as the percussion is laid out, then everything drops away as the beautiful haunting melody is introduced in the breakdown in such a dynamic way it makes you feel as though you were under water. From there it grows into a dance floor rocker, later to be joined with another incredible synth line before the end of the journey. For the flip side they deliver "REFLEX" a dark and moody experimental techno cut infused with a perfect balance of bright staggered drums, cascading melodic chimes, and floating spatial landscapes. Top that off with a deep dubby bass line and a driving thump that will hypnotize crowds. Turns/Dunlap serve you a versatile release that will make you shake it. / Minimal / Tech-House / [10/14/2010]

Adam Marshall : Burn EP : New Kanada : 12"
New Kanada drops into summer with two new cuts from Adam Marshall. "Burn It Down" mixes a dark bassline with some tight drum programming, and lets everything fall into place. Ajacking testament to analogue sound, with evolving tones and acidic errors. A deep bass dub for the wooden dancefloor. "Grapple" hits the ground running with a tightly swung back-beat, and quickly grows into a serious mixing track. Erratic snares dance in and out of the mix, while tribal loops build this quarterback of house beat into the perfect bridge tool. Murr : Noise In : New Kanada : 12"
New Kanada is honored to have the awesome Murr (aka Nicholas Murray) take the reins on the next release. Dusty drums, worn-out pads and a deep respect for the early beatsmiths, Nick always creates an atmosphere in his tracks that is definitely not the flavor of the month - but rather the taste of the year. On the A-side, 'Noise In' is a tough dusty jacker, that builds from a tight dub intoa shimmering melodic bomb. Feels like early Transmat, late Gherkin, or an Americanized LFO. Shuffle, simmer, and slam. The second cut on the A-side, 'Broken Glass', is a slamming ode to the SP1200. Beats swung hard, percussion rattling the kilter way off, and a suffocating groove. Watch out - the shards are sharp. On the B-side, Marshall reshapes the original 'Noise In' into a brutal example of a tough mixing tool. Heavy, pulsing basslines and an incessant jack groove. This one should move the floor. Red, yellow and orange. / Minimal / Tech-House / [10/14/2010]

John Tejada & Josh Humphrey : Assimilation : Palette : 12"
Tejada and Humphrey made their debut together late in 09 with their "Marooned," ep. "Assimilation" continues the theme of being marooned in Los Angeles. The four works compiled here are the result of the best moments out of 20 recording sessions. The music is for the most part assembled with analog instruments with Humphrey and Tejada bringing their modular gear together for the sessions. Humphrey's knowledge of synths and programming is quite extensive. He until recently helped operate LA based Big City Music, a dealer of modular and boutique synthesizers. The four works cover a wide range. "Assimilation" builds up panning modular basslines and swirling percussion with a building chord line that brings things together as the drums build. "Culture Shock" uses pitch shifting trickery to transpose the main melodic hook slamming it into nasty modular bass modulation giving the track it's pretty/dark edge. "Adaptation" keeps it's modular touches a bit more subtle focusing on classic melodic Tejada chords and nostalgic beats. "Subversion" rounds things out with a non 4/4 piece perhaps being the most nostalgic moment of the ep. This highly melodic uplifting track takes it's cues from happy musical memories. Classic chords, 808 beats, and some melodic modular lines to close out the ep. / Minimal / Tech-House / [10/14/2010]

Mossa : Festine Part 2 : Thema : 12"
The second and final part to Mossa's massive album is Festine pt.2. The first part was crafted for a more big room, late night feel and for the second slab of wax were going more for the bouncier out-door, summer fun time feel. There were so many moods on this full-length that we were able to craft specific types of EP's. To some this may be more of the sound they come to expect to hear from Mossa but we know him best, he has flavors upon flavors, which is very obvious on this EP. He's a hard artist to stereotype, exactly why we had to have him on Thema. So for this excursion we have a tango-esque dance floor prime time buner-Buleria, that will make you slam tequila's like the true lushes we are. On the flip side we have Pezzner of Freerange and Dave Aju of Circus Company delivering some sultry, tangy, funk for the body! / Minimal / Tech-House / [10/14/2010]

The original version of ‚Dinosaurs' is a pacy, energetic jam with a super-solid bass foundation. Tracky, urgent and of course wonderfully produced, it harks back to the trippy, percussive sound worlds of classic Poker Flat releases from the likes of Guido Schneider. Raudive : Chamber Music : Macro : CD
Over the past 14 years London's Oliver Ho aka Raudive has gathered a world wide following with his research into deep techno, through his legendary Meta label and with his unique DJ gigs from New York to Berlin to Tokyo. Introducing the Raudive alias, he created a reduced, sexy, dancefloor-centered wave of greatness for labels from Drumcode to Cocoon. This sound turned out to be highly attractive for the DJs to play and for the girls and boys to dance to. The unparalleled appeal of his beats left the usual minimal competitors sounding rather dull. Thus Raudive quickly became the blueprint of techno modernism and one of today's most influential genre-bending production styles. With his "Cone" and "Paper" EPs he is now a key artist of the ever brilliant Macro family, and just having launched his own new Wires imprint, the man is more than on fire. Forming the hallmark of the Raudive saga, Macro unleashes the highly anticipated debut album - "Chamber Music". Chamber Music is both: claustrophobic in sound design, reminiscent of the dark and sweaty concrete club spaces this music inhabits, as well as carrying acoustic qualities of induced instrumental experimentalism. Bitches Brew voodoo reeds, New York no wave voices and European avant strings spin a mesmerizing dark patina around the ultra-sexy year-3000-rhythms. No wonder there's huge DJ support all accross the board - from Miss Kittin to Richie Hawtin, Surgeon to Trevor Jackson, Ricardo Villalobos to Jeff Mills. Massive deep edge and one of 2010 finest albums so far! / Minimal / Tech-House / Electronica / [10/14/2010]

Traversable Wormhole [Surgeon] : Remixes Part 3 : CLR : 12"
More fresh new remixes from Surgeon & Brian Sanhaji for this new Traversable Wormhole release… In 2009 a series of five anonymously produced ink stamped vinyl recorded releases appeared in the global techno scene under the mysterious guise "Traversable Wormhole. The series released exclusively on vinyl. The sound of "Traversable Wormhole is a unique signature of sci-fi laden techno music with gaps of time, space & bass in between sound & rhythm. Within a month's time of it's conception Volume 2 of the series appeared and a huge buzz was soon amassed on the project. Accusations on who was the artist behind the project ran wild. People all over the techno scene had made theories to who was behind it. The project quickly received huge support from many of the world's most renowned techno shops such as Rub A Dub , Hardwax, Juno & Decks. Word traveled fast through the wormhole and it was soon reported that globally respected dj's such as Chris Liebing, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Mathew Herbert, Ryan Elliot, Andrew Galluzi, Surgeon, Function, Frankie Bones, Surgeon, DJ Deep & Radioslave were all supporting the sound of TW. With the series fast approaching into further galaxies with the appearance of Vol 3. Techno cult blogsite MNMLSSG (http://mnmlssg.blogspot.com) tracked down TW via Twitter. A sonar ping was sent back to the popular blog and soon a "Traversable Wormhole" mix appeared anonymously on the site, receiving rave reviews. Their were also reports through the anonymous "Traversable Wormhole" Myspace profile that dj's from the dubstep scene were supporting the songs that had more of a broken beat structure in the series. As the series transgressed to Vol 5 by the year end of 2009 the mystique of anonymity continued to grow. To usher in the very start of 2010 "Traversable Wormhole" would release the sixth volume of the series. At the same time 20 year veteran techno artist/dj Adam X originally from NYC and now residing in Berlin would be invited to partake in a feature called "Playing Favorites" on "Resident Advisor" the worlds biggest electronic music / Minimal / Techno / [10/14/2010]

Passarani & Sacco [Villalobos / Melchior] : Flora : Desolat : 12"
Marco Passarani has shaped the scene in Italy like few others via his Final Frontier studio and labels Nature and Pigna. Known for a diverse oeuvre and an intricate understanding of synthetic funk that would make early house and boogie pioneers jealous, he commands an arsenal of analog synths like a ship captain, frequently playing at the world's best clubs, from Fabric to Berghain, providing remixes for Third Ear and Bpitch and releasing his own panoramic tunes on labels like Rephlex, Peacefrog, Skam and Running Back. When he forged the title track of this brand new Desolat release at a workshop in Austria with Venezuelan sound designer & composer Matias Monteagudo aka Sacco, it was natural that their combined perspectives would create a slice of house music deeper than the Tiber. Matias, signed to Yoruba, tinkers with everything from bossa-inflected grooves and cine-scapes to virtual knobs, pulleys and levers via his KlangLabs range of VST plug ins. Marco's updated version of the track they created together, originally titled Schmiede, is like getting lost in a city that's been filled with smoke machine fog and radioactive fireflies, shakers cutting through the haze like windscreen wipers or the snapping of a viewfinder. Sublime. Romanian duo and Desolat stalwarts Livio & Roby bring a sunny tribal pounce to the track with Ce Face? Remix, applying their signature atmospheric use of samples, and over dubbing the jam with sparse jazz-inflections and what sound like the disembodied barks of space dogs. You can almost hear the duo stomping their feet in the background. The mighty Ricardo Villalobos and Thomas Melchior also step up to the plate for remix duties, adding a subtle interplay of synth reflections and skewed bassline, as the effected vocal samples swirl left and right like the swiveling screens of a security surveillance system. A classic minimal house rhythm swings throughout, kick and clap constantly announcing their presence. / Tech-House / Electronica / House / [10/14/2010]

V/A : Catharsis - An Outpouring From The Pacific Side Of The Earth : From 0-1 : 12"
From 0-1, drops a smashing mini-compilation for their debut vinyl release just in time for the dog days of summer. Headlining this effort is "Hethradia", the very first collaboration between techno veteran Bryan Zentz and Soma's golden boy, Let's Go Outside. Hethradia is a sparse, heady effort set atop a sine wave-engorged bassline rivaling California's biggest swells. Acid drenched bells and synths chime in from another dimension to round off an effort that stands to be emblematic of both producers' more adventurous workings. Next up is Tokyo mainstay DJ Sodeyama's "Moyonga". A stunning expose of the producer's immense level of creativity, he weaves indigenous Japanese taiko drums, vocal snippets, and field recordings reminiscent of a bustling night in Shibuya. Moyonga's ingenuity blurs the line between techno, house and everything that lies between. On the flip side, From 0-1 label boss, Milkplant delivers "Pantycontrol", a raw dub-techno stomper. Stripped down to the essentials: kick, snare, hi-hats, and a couple gritty dubbed out synths; Pantycontrol is one for fans of the raw, analog flavored dub-techno tracks of yesteryear. Rounding off the release is Sone, one of Seattle's most prominent techno producers. His track, "Bunker" rolls tightly along, driven by swung-up syncopated drums, driving bass, and understated Moog action. The perfect track for the late, late pre-dawn hours. / Techno / [10/14/2010]

Ancient Methods vs Adam X : Cardiac Dysrhythmia : Sonic Groove : 12"
Ancient Methods and Adam X step into the ring to battle it out on this latest Sonic Groove release Ancient Method's have developed a strong cult following in the hard techno scene over the past three years with a series of very original sounding 12"s releases on their own imprint of the same name. Producers Trias and Baeks are old school techno Berliner dj's who held residency at Tresor Club for well over 10 years. Adam X and Ancient Methods befriended each other in Berlin in 2008. The main commonality in forging a solid friendship between them was their passion not just for Techno but for the Rhythmic Noise side of the Industrial music scene. It would only make sense with mutual respect of each others music to record a release together. Here on their first collaboration they blend together their distinctive styles to create a fresh new sound of techno, industrial and arrhythmic and dysrhythmic noise machine funk. Dipole : Electron Cloud EP : Sonic Groove : 12"
Sonic Groove catalog #1042 features the debut of Berlin's Dipole, a new project of two former Tresor resident DJs. Dipole has been influenced by Berlin's distinct club atmosphere of the mid-1990s, the city's very own Basic Channel oriented sound, but also harder Detroit techno and releases from the rapidly growing UK techno scene. Combining these elements into Monotone, hypnotizing and industrialesque techno. Dipole have been very active in Berlin's techno landscape since 17 years, playing DJ gigs, releasing records on their own small label and have recently begun to focus on playing live gigs. This record is the first outcome of their latest studio sessions, pressed on solid vinyl. / Techno / [10/14/2010]

Obtane : Mercury's Influence : Sonic Groove : 12"
Mentioned in a recent feature on Resident Advisor called " Italians Do It Darker" about the darkside of the Italian techno scene. Obtane lives up to the phrase once again on his latest release on Sonic Groove entitled "Mercury's Influence". Obtane hypnotizes you with the dark & catchy sci fi bleepy melody in "Gemini". Layered with sharp fast moving 16 note high hat pattern plus deep pulsating bass stab equals an infectious mixture of rhythm and sound design. This is one song that for sure will be stuck in your head after hearing it once. On the flipside the hypnosis continues with "Virgo". A beautifully woven staccato sounding song whose groove rides on and on with the occassional outter space reverberation sounding stabs and distortion washes thrown on top. This is sci fi techno at it s best. Obtane is one Italian who does it dark, very dark! / Techno / [10/14/2010]

Unknown : The Secret Initiative 1 : The Secret Initiative : 12"
Their was once a time when most artists producing techno music were living anonymously amongst their music releases. It was a time where you wondered who the individual/s making such sounds were and what if any message they were trying to convey. It was a time when the internet was not available to the public and was unheard of by most. A time where techno records were being released from only a handful of countries. A time where there was no European Union. A very distinctive style of techno would appear from each of these places. It was a time where word spread about music not by text in pixels and lights but by mouth , facsimile and a few magazines, fanzines often produced in a language not of your own. All of this anonymity provoked much thought when listening to the music. The music literally spoke for itself with no hype or image factor of the person behind the music. Then came the internet. The super highway of information. Much of the anonymity factor in techno quickly faded away. The loss of mystique in the scene would soon diminish with many respected artists pushing more for image then the music itself. As the end of the last decade came about an unorganized revolution in techno started to form. Suddenly over a few months time a slew of anonymous of techno releases from different artists helped lead the techno scene back to it's proper form. Where some might think it has now all gone a bit cliche , "The Secret Initiative" see's itself this movement as an important step in the evolution of techno. The anonymity factor has helped bring forward, advancement in style & sound design. It has given the chance for many an artist who have been expected of creating a certain style to drift off into other stylistic territories. It has also given the chance for newer artists to step on board and represent themselves. Let's face it. The last year in techno has been the most innovative period in quite along time. The anonymity factor which made a big resurgence within the last year has definitely helped sparked this change in direction. To add a bit more mystique to the current state of techno, "The Secret Initiative" debuts with a 12" of dark spacial acidic drone techno music to provoke thought and body reflex movement. / Techno / [10/14/2010]

Roska & Untold : Myth : Numbers : 12"
Numbers is proud to present the debut release from Roska & Untold. In a move that is bound to shake up the markets, Long Range and Myth are the latest in dancefloor innovations brought to you by Messrs Jack Dunning (aka Untold; CEO of Hemlock Records) and Wayne Goodlit (aka Roska; MD of Roska Kicks and Snares). With fears over a lack of imagination in House music at an all time high, these two producers have joined forces to create two envelope-pushing solutions to this highly contentious issue. After several consultations a deal was sealed with the board at Numbers who in turn offered to provide logistical and technical support. A1 - Myth was constructed from the careful sculpture of demented wailing horns underpinned by precision crafted beats and bass. Leading industry experts have been hailing this as a step forward in the merger between Grime and House.

Alex Flatner & Lopazz : Dinosaurs : Poker Flat : 12"
Two true heroes of underground electronic music, Alex Flatner & Lopazz step up the game with this brand new outing on Poker Flat. Paul Woolford hands in his ‚Mannheim' remix, which takes a freaky, percussive edge and steps up the energy even further in this amazing workout / Minimal / Tech-House / [10/14/2010]

[DESOLAT013]

Combining these elements into Monotone, hypnotizing and industrialesque techno. Dipole have been very active in Berlin's techno landscape since 17 years, playing DJ gigs, releasing records on their own small label and have recently begun to focus on playing live gigs.

AA1 - Long Range, inspired by the groundbreaking work performed in the KMS and Prescription labs of Chicago & Detroit / UK Funky / Dubstep / [10/14/2010]

[BOSCONI012]
Mass Prod : Paris,Texas Ep : Bosconi : 12”
Bosconi strikes back again with another essential release by our outstanding artist Mass Prod. His unique fingerprint is recognizable thanks to the variety of styles of this new 3 tracker ep. After his succesfull Bosconi Grooves ep and a marvellous series of bootlegs, Mass Prod delivers one deep house gem, a dreamy oldschool techno Detroit pumper and a twisted jam of clear crossover techno - modern 2step inspiration. 72 Minutes Of Scrubs A Day is melancholic, bouncy, dubby and groovy, the outstanding sample that dominates the entire song is ultra catchy and you will have serious problems to get it out from your ears, for sure it reminds us some of the best cavernous American deep house music that we have ever heard in the early nineties. Cornelinda instead tells you about pure love passion, it??s sexy, hopey, one of those tracks who wants to take you somewhere and stay there with you foreverandever, and it??s all about raw analogue pleasure for your feet. Wacko, in the end, is the more experimental and cracked out moment of the ep, where an almost nonsense groove matches perfectly with a freeky bassline with the intention to cross the border between modern house, impro and wonky beats.. / House / [10/14/2010]

It is not Bogart first try After having been on the road of many continents for 5 years, having played at the 2009 SXSW Festival (with Delphic, White Lies, etc.), the band comes back and intends to destroy everything. After a first album in 2008, they strongly return with " Behold ", under the french and productive label Boxon Records. Blacklodge feat Guests Of Nature : Lay It On The Line : Lazy Days : 12"
Fred Everything's imprint is proud to introduce you to Blacklodge, featuring Guests Of Nature, with the amazing 'Lay It On The Line'. Blacklodge is up and coming producer Rob Fahey's nom de plume. Hailing from Brighton, he has enjoyed quite a success and attracted interest with his re-edits on Soundcloud. This is where Lazy Days found him through good friend Aaron Dae, who was sure the San Francisco label was the best home for this unique track. Vocalist and lyricist Eugene McDonald, aka Guests of Nature, has laid down (pun intended!) in Fred Everything's words "one of the nicest vocal tracks we have had the pleasure of hearing in a while." Also from Brighton, Eugene has had many collaborations in the past, including on the hip Jamie Jones remix of Deniz Kurtel which appeared on Crosstown Rebels. There was no doubt that label boss Fred Everything wanted to get his hands on the remix, taking a similar approach to his recent Juno-chart-topping disco remixes of Hot Toddy's Down To Love for Om's sub-label Smoke & Mirrors. Fred ups the tempo a little but instead of going the 4/4 route, he uses a laid back, almost freestyle beat over a crisp production. This is House-not-house at its best! Also included is the bonus track from Blacklodge called "Broken Promises" which shapes up as another late night monster. **Early support from Danny Krivit, Mark Farina, Tortured Soul, Nacho Marco, Franck Roger, Lovebirds...** / House / [10/14/2010]

Visualboys vs Stefano Mattara : Waves Of Luv (In Alto Mare) : Purple Music : 12"
IN ALTO MARE was on of the biggest Italian hits of the 80's performed by LOREDANA BERTE - member of the biggest artists of all time - made in Italy know this song. In 2004 "IN ALTO MARE" gets revisted and retwisted in a new millennium version produced by 2BLACK feat. WENDY LEWIS, who transformed the song in... a bilingual song with funky lyrics and original Italian chorus. And once again it was one of the biggest hits in summer 2004 and licensed worldwide in almost all countries. Now it's time again to revamp the song but this time in a pure JAMIE LEWIS & PURPLE MUSIC style in collaboration with the VISUALBOYS & STEFANO MATTARA. The Song has just been tested, and believe us; it's still amazing when you hear the whole club singing the song. ITALIAN DOES IT BETTER? YESSSSS!!! / House / [10/14/2010]

The Clover : Space Family EP : Tenax : 12”
Now you've finished to wait! The expected EP from the crazy trio The Clover is now a real thing! After their last release on Bosconi Records the guys from Florence come back with their first vinyl release on Tenax Recordings, in the same moment of the restyling of the label. They present us their "Space Family"! It's a family from another planet where the music has not rules but many colours and shades. On the main side there is the pet, called "Summer Dog" where the groove is jackin' and the atmosphere is sunny and happy, perfect for the beach party on the seaside. On the flip side the first track is "Freshman", the son, tied to the old production of the florentine trio with a wave of freshness gave it thru some dirty scratching hip hop vocals. The last track on the B2 is the wife "Lady Stoner", a freaky track where drums from 80's machine and old analog synths create a paranoid and surreal moment, where the time could stop for you. And now the question is…where is the husband? / House / [10/14/2010]

Nicolas Chenard : From Outer Space : Absolut Freak : 12"
For its 20th release, Absolut Freak Records is proud to present the much expected "From Outer Space" by NICOLAS CHENARD. Known with "Thriller Express" and its remix by John Lord Fonda in 2006, the first signed artist of the label is back with a magical project and a very special artwork made by The Zonders. The vinyl EP starts with "Parallelism", an ultimate tribute to the rave anthems, with its massive spacey disco loop and strings. Already a classic! On "Do Not Educate", he rocks with his GameBoy and shows his taste for 8-bit synthesis. Then, "The Path" reveals his singular melodic genius. The introduction takes you on a fantasy journey with hypnotic organ and flutes, before rolling an electro monster with killer pads. Back side, the banger crew from South of France ELECTROLUXE FAMILY gives a monumental remix of "Parallelism", with a perfect shady introduction and a baroque concerto in the break. At last, the stunning french band RACONTAGE offers a new demonstration of their amazing skills (after their EP on the AF18), with a huge remix of "Do Not Educate". There's also a second part of the EP for digital only, with another superb track by Nicolas Chenard called "She's Calling", a trashy remix of "Do Not Educate" by the famous pet from Dim Mak SPA, a deeper version of "Parallelism" by the swedish dandy from Bpitch Control TOMAS ANDERSSON and a beautiful spacey rework of "She's Calling" by JAUZAS THE SHINING vs KORPORATION. Supported by Cyberpunkers, David Carretta, StereoHeroes, Donovans, Saint Pauli, Dalcan, John Lord Fonda, Disco Trash Music, Costello, Pro7... / Electro House / [10/14/2010]

Nightbreaker : Tokamak : Archibell : 12"
Born in London UK 1988, Leo Chilcott hated pretty much all music up until he was 16... and then realized he was wrong. A couple of years later Nightbreaker was born. Influenced by distorted electro sounds, to orchestral, Jazz and blues pieces such as Shostakovich and Tom Waits, he presents his first record, 3 twisted and rocking tracks on Archibell Records. The first track right in the spotlight is "Tokamak" a track with a dark kick and grind, featuring layered synths and vocal samples that break and drop with attitude. No time for intros this track hits hard and fast and leaves unexpectedly. Next up is "G.I.G.A.S", defined by its epic breaks, driving melody and sudden mood swing. Perhaps the less sinister track out of the three, probably to give you a break for what's coming up next. Unlike Tokamak, "Nyx" starts with a slow baleful, classically influenced intro filled with suspense. Eventually dropping into a deep atmospheric hard hitting groove. Evil rhythm crafted with precise microsampling. / Electro House / [10/14/2010]

[BOXON022]
Costello : Get Crazy EP : Boxon Records : 12"
As you may already know about it, the artist COSTELLO (who is living in Bordeaux at the moment) is releasing his first EP on Boxon Records. Costello, 23 years old DJ/Producer, already appeared in international labels (Plasmapool, Party Like Us, Big Fish Recordings, Dust Traxx Chicago) and made remixes of artists such as Missil, Dilemn, Stereoheroes, Udachi or Gooseflesh. Thanks to his insane shows, his youth influenced by a good dose of strength and technique, and his electro 90s sounding break, rock or hip-hop, he managed to make a name. The maestro of the bassline is now playlisted by the most famous DJ's (David Guetta, Lazy Rich, Lee Mortimer, AC Slater, Calvertron, Steve Aoki) and specialized radios (BBC, FG, etc.). He's releasing now the " Get Crazy " Ep on the french label Boxon Records. On the vinyl version, the title "Get Crazy (Original Mix)", comes along with two remixes. One by Will Bailey (Simma Records), and the other by Black Noise (Southern Fried Records, Ministry Of Sound), two artists in vogue of the actual UK scene. Different and complementary, each one of them bring new ideas, punchy breaks, clever vocals for an efficient final result and of a wonderful quality. To cap it all, NineLives The Cat (from Sydney), brings his voice on one of Costello's tracks for a stunning featuring. Something is certain, those tracks won't go out from your head. Enjoy ! Supported by Alex Gopher, Don Rimini, Missil, Cyberpunkers, Beataucue, The Bloody Beetroots, Franki Chan, Mstrkrft, Malente, Larry Tee, Calvertron, Polymorphic, Tommie Sunshine, Human Life, Lazy Rich, André Dalcan… / Electro House / [10/14/2010]

Rondenion : Beginning Of The Ring Ep : Bosconi Extra Virgin : 12”
Vintage and Classy, Rondenion joins the Extra Virgin family for its 5th release with a top level 3 tracker of fresh club music goodness. This talented and eclectic japanese artist has dropped out already some marvellous productions on Still Music and Rush Hour, where he seemed to be very influenced by some of the greatest stuffmade in Detroit by artists like Theo Parrish and Moodymann: jammin' on with synthesizers, MPC, drum machines and manipulating disco soul jazz samples, he plays the sounds directly while he's composing in a proper oldschool "live" way. Keeping the vibe simple, rounded, groovy, he has created amazing compositions for our ears and when you will start listening to this ep you'll get along with us. Trying to be always contemporary, looking at the past but still forwardthinking, Bosconi Extra Virgin presents "The Beginning of the Ring": on the main side we can listen to the track that gives the title to the EP, and Rondenion here slams out your face with a monstrous, epic, symphonic-soul-drenched, slowmotion masterpiece that sounds definitely like a modern balearic track enriched by contemporary beat and new abstract hip hop elements, 10 minutes of heavenly, trippy and pure beatdown pleasure, reminding us something in between Baia degli Angeli and Flying Lotus, or even better, just Rondenion. B side instead is the more dancefloor oriented part of the vinyl, which starts with the joyful uptempo house vibe of "In one's mind" where a gospel voice on loop rolls over a heavily atmospheric filtered piano sample that comes and goes, while on the second cut we find thefreestyle cut up disco a la Soundstream of "Like a child", a pure funk banger tool that surely will please your needs of rocking the floor. / Disco / House / [10/14/2010]

Phenomenal Hand Clap Band : 15 to 20 : Hectorworks : 12"
The Phenomenal Handclap Band out of NYC dropped a brilliant debut album last year and first single "15 to 20" was a stand out track. Hector Works label founder Anthony Mansfield got the opportunity to remix the track and was so into the tune that he rinsed two versions. While these versions got widespread exposure and distribution from both Friendly Fire and Gomma, Anthony's remixes were until now digital only. We want our records! The Disco mix is a slower funk version using the catchy vocals over a helping of sweet disco dub--the Punk Funk mix uses all the elements of the track and points it for a dance floor! To celebrate these mixes Hector Works has stepped it up big time and commissioned illustrator and printer Summer Makovkin (maidenhand.com). Summer's work is amazing! She hand silk screened custom album covers, 3 colors, signed and numbered. There are only 100 of these limited album covers available. / Disco / Nu-Disco / [10/14/2010]

Mendes & Alcada : Night of the Bath : Internasjonal Spesial : 12"
Short about the label:. A joint effort between Prins Thomas and Word And Sound- The idea behind the label is to put out good music and not limiting ourselves to stick with a specific genre, instead opting to stay fresh and individual with each release going in every direction we feel. We're gonna be highlighting new talent, re-releasing some lesser known nuggets and certainly give you some dancefloor killers along the way to. From japanese techno to California kraut : ) just the way we like it… Hailing from Lisbon, MENDES & ALÇADA is a project by Pedro Alcada and resident at Lux, Tiago Miranda. While dj'ing with Tiago at Lux Prins Thomas was handed demos of 3 tracks in progress with the invitation to produce the finished music. 2 years and 3 computer crashes later 2 of these tracks survived. In the meantime Tiago has turned into a perfectly capable producer himself releasing music on Ene Records in Japan and Italians Do It Better as T&K(with Kaos). Please give these tracks some attention and love, it would be sad not to after all the blood, sweat and tears that went into it…. Internasjonal HQ / Disco / Nu-Disco / [10/14/2010]

Anoraak : Try Me : Naïve : 10"
When Frederic Riviere says something along the lines of "the sun and the sea are really important to me," it's easy to think, 'Oh great, another chillwave artist who enjoys long walks on the beach and sitting on the dock of the bay all day.' If only things were that simple. While he's certainly into laser-guided synth lines and sepia-toned nostalgia trips, Riviere's debut album as Anoraak (Wherever the Sun Sets) is more indebted to Italo disco, Motown-schooled funk and sepia-toned pop music-think: M83 on Ecstasy-than anything that's lo-or-glo-fi. Which makes sense. After all, it's not like the French producer/singer/multi-instrumentalist picked up his first battery-powered keyboard yesterday. Truth be told, Anoraak began as a bedroom-based project about eight years ago, as Riviere searched for sound engineer work and found nothing but bar gigs. "Everyone is an engineer in Paris," he explains. "It's like coming to L.A. and trying to be an actor." Riviere reached a breaking point soon enough, after his role in several indie rock bands started to feel like "just another job." Determined to find his calling in the West of France, Riviere joined his old friends in Nantes (a city Time once called the most livable spot in all of Europe) and helped launch the Valerie collective/blog. Before he knew it, Riviere was channeling his childhood on the Nightdrive With You EP, a buzz-stirring attempt at everything from moon-lit club music (the title track) to Boards of Canada-inspired IDM ("Endless Summer"). "They make really deep music," Riviere says, referring to the legendary Warp duo, "songs that make you feel good and bad at the same time." Similar traces of melancholy slip into Wherever the Sun Sets (see: the richly-layered instrumental loops of "Midnight Sunset") as well. But let's be honest-it's a feel-good full-length for the most part., a seamless blend of live and programmed elements that's essentially an electronic take on the SoCal rock LPs (Weezer, That Dog) that Riviere loved as a kid growing up in the South of France (the Medieval city where Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves was filmed, if you must know). SoCal in spirit, at least, as standout tracks like "Try Me" and "Long Hot Summer Night" absolutely nail the essence of being on a beach without a care in the world. And then there's "Don't Be Afraid" and "Dolphins & Highways," a pair of from-dusk-'til-dawn ballads that feature an alt-disco diva (Sally Shapiro) and Scottish folk singer (Siobhan Wilson) respectively. "It's a back-to-the-'80s vibe that has no boundaries," Riviere explains. "If something's cheesy, it's cheesy. I have no problem with that, so long as it moves you." / Nu Disco / [10/14/2010]
