Dj Fresh : Acid Rain / Fight : Breakbeat Kaos : 12"
Barely coming up for breath after the release of the electronic tour-de-force that was 'Kryptonite', DJ Fresh get's ready to pull the second single from the album and it's one that's guaranteed to appeal to a wide range of bass-heads all looking for their next rush. Flicking between tempos Fresh demonstrates his unashamed production talents, dropping two absolute storming cuts from a captivating album. * 'Talkbox' has been an anthem in clubland since it first started seeping into DJ sets last year. It's instantly recognizable with a warped half-time intro that has epic written all over it as the talkbox vocal tells us 'it's the way that I feel right now' and we're glad it is, as when it drops it never fails to get arms in the air and feet on the floor. A massive undulating bassline runs things throughout with the soaring synth rising out over the top like a battle cry to those still stood at the bar. This is pure Fresh! DJ support from Andy C, Pendulum, Sub Focus, Chase & Status and more. On the flip is the huge remix of 'Talkbox' by the duo everyone's talking about, Camo & Krooked, who it seems can do no wrong right now. * "Massive global dance floor destroyer. From America to Australia to Japan, 'Fight' kills it!" Hatcha * Always one for controversy DJ Fresh then ramps things up even more with the outrageous sounds of the dubstep smacker 'Fight'. Cinematic orchestral stabs line things up in the intro, paving the way to a drop that could only have come from the Fresh studio. The ensuing screeching, messed up riff and relentless bass has had dance floors reeling for months and no doubt will continue to do so for many more months to come. DJ support from Skream, Hatcha, Mistajam, Benga, Nero and more. * And if that wasn't enough, get ready for the nastiness of 'Acid Rain' as we're brought slap back down into DNB darkness. Seen by some as harking back to the old Bad Company days, Acid Rain is not to be messed with. Watch for the mentasm switch up at the end too! * Yet another awesome vinyl package from the Breakbeat Kaos clan. / DnB / [10/14/2010]

Bad Chemistry is already on its 3rd release and none other then SPKTRM is on the case to break a new kind of branch to the bad  chemistry sound.. Anomalous Singularity is deep.. broken and darker then the cave it was made in.. rattling drumfunk esque patterns  immerse out of the dark pits sucking you into brand new territories... F.W.C. is totally different.. staying true to his roots SPKTRM  goes in with guns blazing.. [BETA023]
Terravita : Lockdown / Up In The Club : Beta : 12"
John B's Beta Recordings label makes a welcome return with a new single from Terravita. Made up of Chris Barlow, Matt Simmers and Jon Spero, they're putting their electro powerhouse alter ego Hot Pink Delorean to the side for just a second for their debut release on Beta, "Lockdown" and "Up in the Club". The single is best described as 'Drumstep', a sub genre the Boston boys have been a part of from day one. Pioneers in the field, 'Drumstep' is proving to be one of the most popular rising genres to date. * Terravita were first recognised in 2006 by Maldini & Vegas (Bad Company) with 4 tracks featured on the Bad Taste 2 LP. Following 4 singles on Technique Recordings, including "Adult Robot Kung Fu", Terravita have released music with Subsonik Sound as well as a remix of AK1200's rave anthem "Drowning" that hit #4 on the Beatport Charts. * With huge support already from heavy hitters like Rusko, Dieselboy, John B and Evol Intent we can be certain that the massive single ''Lockdown'' is in set for big things this Autumn. 'Lockdown' kicks off by sending a shiver down your spine with its thrilling piano intro, building vehemence before dropping into a snarling, furious bassline. Following the pattern of intense intros that leave you shaking in your raving boots is ''Up in the Club''. Its dark, mystic vibe draws you in before hitting you with a super-heavy drop. * Beta Recordings is run by John B, one of the most eclectic and unique individuals within electronic music today. Renowned for his expansive DJ sets and globetrotting lifestyle, the best way to describe John is to expect the unexpected! / DnB / [10/14/2010]

Receptor : Princess / Ass / Belka & Strelka / Girls : Beta : 12"
On 'Princess' don't let the title fool you, this track is no fairy tale. The beat kicks in like no other with a raw undertone that will have the crowd bouncing along. It's sure to be the one tune everyone is talking about after the weekend. * 'Girls' with its series of breaks and beats blending into a broken yet pulsating rhythm, it won't be just the girls who can't help moving; this one will shake everybody! * 'Ass' kicks off with an attention grabbing high note over a simmering beat that drops manically ensuring no one is able to resist the call of the dance floor once this one is in full swing. It draws you in to its intensity and once it's dropped, keeps you with it until the very end. * 'Belka & Strelka' ushers in a change in rhythm compared to the previous tracks. A fairly light and liquid style of Drum & Bass, the melodies blend nicely over a solid undercurrent of bass. One to turn up loud on the way to the club! / DnB / [10/14/2010]

Xilent : Step One / Irreversible : Beta : 12"
'Step One' the title track is the kind of epic opener that John B tears up arenas with on a weekly basis. Opening with massive hands-up trance synths, it breaks down into a snarling beast, morphing the synths into a dancefloor behemoth. Take a breather during the breakdown before the second drop smacks you straight in the face all over again. * 'Irreversible' rolls in sleekly with otherworldly synths and whispered ethereal vocals, the tension building with every bar. What is in store, though, is fearsome: a stuttering growling monster bassline, kept in kicked into shape by whip-cracking snares. * 'Twice' maintains that blurred line between epic and filth - but states its intentions early on with bassbin shaking kick drums overlaying the echoing stabs, before true urgency of the drop ensues. / DnB / [10/14/2010]

Mutt feat. Stephane Vera : When I / The Cold One : Celsius  : 12"
Celsius presents their 11th release and this time its up to Mutt to deliver the goods. The original funkster from  Canada presents two brand new fresh soul licks for the musiclovers. 'When I' starts of with a nice piano intro introducing the vocal  and percussion, suddenly the beat kicks in and you will find yourself doin the boogy on the middle of the crowded dancefloor. Melody  kickin in and you'll be floating inches above the dancefloor feeling great. This is music that will make you happy.. Flip over for another  bassheavy soul inspired anthem. Pure funk layed over an equally funky beat, perfect in balance. This might be named 'the cold one'.  You know its HOT! Pure quality... / DnB / [10/14/2010]

[CRIT048]
Total Science feat. Riya : Redlines (Break Remix / Scaremonger : Critial Music : 12"
One of the most highly revered and rotated vocal D&B tracks from the past six months is back, this time  with an ice-cold twist ready to take us into the frosty autumnal months. Drawing in the talents of Critical playmate Break to add his  deft touch was always going to result in one thing - absolute dance floor devastation! Oozing class while smacking up the dance is  something many producers can only dream of….the masterclass starts here. Drifting pads with sexed-up guitar touches intro the  'Redlines' remix before the drums kick and we're away on a blues-infused excursion with full vocal riding on top as the chords roll  out. Don't be fooled though as the fun's just about to start! A quick repeated refrain and suddenly in crash the amens, edits and the  most gut-wrenching sub to demolish the place. Vocal teases run throughout together with swathes of guitar but it's the sheer tearout  that wins in the end. Absolutely fantastic.  Flipping things over and Total Science come back with the classic sounds of 'Scaremonger'. Seemingly an ode to the vibes of  yesteryear, this one bounces with the best of them. A hot twostepping break carries the stabbing b-line that morphs subtly as this  wicked bubbler moves along with ease. Proper Total Science doing what they do best. DJ support from Andy C, Bailey, Hype,  Friction, Cyantific, Logistics and many more. / DnB / [10/14/2010]

Genotype : Ritual Dance LP : Exit Records : CD
After a lengthy break from the electronic music world, Genotype is back with an LP for Exit Records and provides a lesson in stripped  back dub influenced music at approximately 170 bpm. Having started his music career in the mid nineties under the legendary alias  Just Jungle, with releases on the massively influential labels of that era such as Trouble On Vinyl, Renegade Hardware and Reinforced  Records, its no surprise that he's managed to capture the essence of rawness in his recent music akin to the early years of Jungle.  Many producers have tried and failed to bring back the old skool sound with an original flavor but Genotype has managed this by  resisting the temptation to lash in the tired old classic breaks and instead has drawn for the more organic sounding percussion and  drum kits. The dubbed out theme runs throughout the album paying homage to his love for West Indian music which he has been  involved in for many years and naturally influences the music he creates. Genotype is a man of few words and prefers to let his music  do the talking so check out the album and draw your own conclusions. / DnB / [10/14/2010]

If you don't know about Invisible, it's a label Nosia are using to release some of their more experimental tracks, as well as showcasing other artists. On this release Nosia, Alix Perez, Stray and Joe Seven all feature. Noisia kick things off with "Ease Forward", linking up with Melbourne-based Joe Seven for a brooding slice of ultra-deep funk. Shogun Audio golden boy Alix Perez comes next with the tight percussive roll of "Observer", before joining forces with the Noisia triumvirate for the immense future-funk of "Underprint". New talent Stray is left to finish things off, which he does in style on "Saturday", demonstrating why he's been turning all the right heads over the last 12 months with his abstract explorations of the DnB template. / DnB / [10/14/2010]

Soul Intent : Rebel Music : Mach II  : 12"
Randalls Mac 2 recordings showcases another banging release with the return of fast moving breakthrough artist  Soul intent. Having all ready featured on the label on the 17th release back in 2008 and on the recent justice league EP Soul intent  returns once again to show us how rolling drum n bass should be done. The A side " Rebel music" punches through with razor sharp  breaks that bring the track to some seriously sub low basslines. Haunting vocals lead through the track introducing some seriously  deep FX and strings that make this track one stone cold killer. The flip "Cybergroove" makes for a more upbeat affair but certainly  shows Soul intents versatility as an artist. Percussion lead breaks and some haunting strings cut into a bassline that punches its way  throughout the track before cutting into a FX lead breakdown. Rockwell : DJ Friendly Unit Shifter / Fakin' Jacks : Shogun : 12"
As featured on Friction's recent Ministry Of Sound mix album, 'DJ Friendly Unit Shifter' is a beast, intro'ing with distorted synth teases that drop suddenly into a deep pulsing sub-bass, warming the blood as it chases cheeky rhythmic glitches. A funk-induced warping bass hits against the velvety-smooth, while underlying shakes and edits highlight the constant motion in the music - a fine characteristic of the new Shogun warrior. * 'Fakin' Jacks' reveals Rockwell's advanced and futuristic sound - a technical masterpiece. The side-chained synth intro delves into an impossibly deep, dark, devilish bass. Whiplash strikes and cool synth stabs drop over unforgiving hits and FX, accompanied by Rockwell's trademark heavily-edited drums and basslines that make for an astounding track. An impressive feat, and not a surprise to learn then, that 'Fakin' Jacks' features over 100 tracks of percussion and took over three months to write! / DnB / [10/14/2010]

Silent Witness / Break : Kontroller / ABTN : Triple Seed : 12"
Welcome to the third release on Triple Seed. This time, featuring the classic partnership of Silent Witness & Break. A. Kontroller - This  number takes no prisoners with its anthemic reece and breakbeat driven madness. Designed to please crowds, this one will empower  the dj and dress down his or her victims. Snippets of eighties pop vocals and guitar punctuate the lazer fight bass stabs providing all  the tone and colour necessary to illuminate any flagging dance floor. Prepare to get caught in a mosh when this goes off.  AA. ABTN - Heads down! ABTN is two step tour de force of bass beats and atmosphere. The initial calm gives way to a ridiculously  heavy bass growl and crisp beats that will entrance any self respecting party goer. Stripped down and serious, the contemporary  minimal feel is backed up by typically beefy production that (really) will stand the test of time.  DJ support from Andy C, Ed Rush, Goldie, Friction, Bad Company, Bailey, Fierce, Survival, Noisia, and more…  a Silent Witness & Break - Kontroller / DnB / [10/14/2010]

Audio : Genesis Device : Virus : 3x12"
Over the years, drum & bass has seen literally thousands of record labels come and go. But amid the seemingly infinite imprints that have provided an outlet for the music, very few can claim to have had anywhere near the influence of the mighty Virus Recordings. * Ed Rush & Optical, alongside fellow 'tech step' luminaries Trace, RymeTyme and later Bad Company and Cause 4 Concern, lay down the Virus template on timeless tracks such as 'Gasmask', 'Watermelon' and 'Medicine', as well as LPs 'Wormhole' and 'Sleepwalk', and within just a couple of years had a seismic influence on the sound of Drum & Bass. * Now, 12 years after the first page in the Virus story was turned, and with its influence running deeper than ever, the label is beginning yet another new chapter, throwing open its doors for the first time to a producer from outside their core camp. * Audio is well known for his affiliation with D&B's very darkest side, having released brutal, punishing tracks on uncompromising labels such as Freak Recordings and TechFreak over the years, and has forged a reputation for providing some of the most intense and dramatic music ever to be called drum & bass. * 'Genesis Device' is pure Virus. Tempering eerie, unsettling soundscapes and disgustingly twisted bass with an insufferable sense of groove and warmth to create an album that fans of the label will be well at home with, and that will leave newcomers astounded by its engineering finesse and endless depth. / DnB / [10/14/2010]

[AWK002]
Dodger Man : Mango Tree / 2_12 : Awkward Movements : 12"
Awkward Movements returns to release the debut from London's Dodger Man - one of the most  talked-about new producers of the last 12 months. And with good reason. Dodger Man's multi-instrumentalist background opened  the door for his high-profile sets bombed with back-to-back dubs of his own creation. His workings played-out live have gained him a  reputation as one of the top emerging DJs, the height of which came following an impressive set at Bloc Weekend, after being handpicked  by Joy Orbison to share the bill. The natural alignment with Awkward Movements has served up his highly-anticipated debut  record, and it doesn't disappoint. Marking Dodger Man's official debut, Mango Tree steps in where the underground bass sound's left  off. Combining the same elements that pushed Floating Points and SBTRKT to the forefront in 2009 with the vibes that future garage  has brought in 2010, Dodger Man takes it up with a deep bass rhythm, crunchy hi-end synth and drums for the decks and dancefloor.  Bridging the gap between tech and dub, 2_12 is the stripped down evil-twin on the B-side. Take a complex 22 track and strip it to its  core without losing it's personality and you've almost arrived. A uniquely complex tune - wanting to burst out but eerily contained in  its black hole minimal approach of grinded synth stabs and one-shot styled drums. / Dubstep / [10/14/2010]

Innasekt : Cluster / Zombie (Innasekts Kamikaze Mix) : Boka  : 12"
Boka Records hit release number 30 and they've delved deep into the Dubstep archives on this one. Innasekt's 'Cluster' has been  around on Dubplate for well over a year now with the Dubstep heads still demading it's release, it's finally here! [DRUNK019]
Peverelist & Hyetal : The Hum / rrrr : Punch Drunk : 12"
Punch Drunk continue to twist, redefine and push forward the template of dubstep with a new 12" combining the  talents of rising star Hyetal and Bristol veteran Peverelist. As part of the second wave of Bristol dubstep producers, Hyetal has  already made his mark, garnering critical acclaim for his recent 12" 'Phoenix' on Orca and previously releasing 12"s on labels such as  Reduction and Soul Motive in addition to his collaboration with Shortstuff on Punch Drunk earlier this year. This is Peverelist's second  12" release this year following his 'Better Ways of Living' release for Punch Drunk and his recent mix for Resident Advisor. Both  producers bring their trademark ingredients to the table, Hyetal's kaleidoscopic synthesis and Pev's deadly junglistic rhythm section  combine to produce two very different tracks. The Hum is immediately grabbing, brimming with propelling energy and uplifting  melodics. The cryptically titled 'rrrr' is a much darker disorientating psychedelic affair, slowly luring you into it's groove, providing  another typical Punch Drunk curve ball. / Dubstep / [10/14/2010]

[DZ001]
Data : Hedorah : Dubzilla : 12"
Data and the guys from Dubzilla bring two monsters from him to their first release. Both tracks have his trade mark  production which is deep, dark and heavy. Minimal glichy drums and a grinding bline set you up for a ride then the sub bass cracks  open your head! Little white lies has a crisp kick and snare that has time and space to create the scene, haunting vocals then take  over with a killer bass this track is so deep you could drown in it. Acid techno samples flow in and out of the tune totally flipping the  script from time to time. / Dubstep / [10/14/2010]

[INFMS001]
Youthman / Bulletproof : Freestyle Maniac / Gutterkrunk : Infamous Recordingz : 12"
Warm welcome to SRD for Infamous Recordingz with a slammin pairing of dubstep floor shakers. * A-SIDE - Youthman - Freestyle Maniac Youthman a true king in his own right, having over 30 releases worldwide. From the intro you're drawn into the stellar energy of this song until the very outro. The dance floor thumping drums and oldschool breakbeat influences are definitely a Youthman signature all over, making this tune a heavyweight Baltimore style anthem. * AA-SIDE - Bulletproof - GutterKrunk Bulletproof what more should I say? With over 80 D&B releases worldwide, Bulletproof is now producing dubstep, but keeping his tech d&b style. This tune is as heavy as it gets in weight, size and sonic properties. The intro captures a dark theme and as soon as the drop hits you feel power of this beast with catchy percussion patterns and bassline overloads. Yet another solid Bulletproof release. / Dubstep / [10/14/2010]

[MEDI029]
V.I.V.E.K. : Feel It EP : Deep Medi Music : 2x12"
Please note there is no CD with this pressing. The latest release on Mala's Deep Medi imprint is a four track double pack Vinyl. It  comes on the back of his first Medi release last year 'Kulture' b/w 'Meditation Rock' and countless dubplates that you'll no doubt  have heard if you've checked the Anti Social Entertainment on Rinse FM. Fusing digidub, sound system deep bass, rolling  percussion, a hint of Berlin techno it all adds up to those 'Medi' style vibes; eyes down, blissed out, heavy weight music. The title  track, 'Feel It' kicks things off in fine style with some of the most infectious rolling tablas - his percussion is just sublime. A vocal  sample declaring the weight of your bass and the largeness of your soundsystem is all the track needs to usher in a chest thumping  sub sonic bass tone and there is no way back you're sucked into that soup of sub bass frequencies. 'Grandfather Clock' counts  down to a dance floor meltdown when the metronome-like sample, half tempo drum patterns and hefty bass melts into blazing  techno buzzes that just keep coming, it's those killer synths that make it, truly coming from nowhere. The deeply blissful 'Motherland'  is one for the meditative crew, subtle but weighty bass pulses roll off half stepping rhythms, tablas and all that good stuff all accented  with Indian vocals instrumentation. It's so deep, minimal it would make Youngsta proud. T. / Dubstep / [10/14/2010]

Riya feat. Skream : Seems Like / The Cycle : Autonomic : 12"

[PRDM003]
Ratville [Goth Trad / Dj Tuttle] : Remixed Cuts #1 : Public Riddim : 12"
RATVILLE is a new school dub band releasing their 1st album Dubs on the Corner in 2009, leaving  serious after effects throughout the country. This time, GOTH-TRAD and DJ TUTTLE, east - west dubstep masters remixed the  tracks to create a challenging piece of vinyl cut!! Remix was done by two artists, contributing to the spread of dubstep in Japan. As a  host of Back To Chill releasing from UK's one and only DEEP MEDI MUSIK, GOTH-TRAD is now achieving worldwide prominence.  On the other hand, leader of DUBSTEP RUDE, DJ TUTTLE is out to shake things up establishing a new label NODE with Akira Ohashi  from Psycheouts G.  GOTH-TRAD's side modestly builds up till it finally rocks the floor in the latter half. May suit for outdoor performances. Heavy duty  808 type kick supporting bottom end with metal-like percussion and SEs floating in the air, DJ TUTTLE side is made for the darkest  closed chambers to inhale the low frequency. This is the spearhead of dubstep made in Japan. Hands-on approach of the two made  a sensational reaction with Ratvilleafs sound, pushing it to the next dimension. PUBLICRIDDIM is the Japannese independent label  estalished in 2009 to hand down the forefront of the underground music scene to posterity. / Dubstep / [10/14/2010]

Having already released material on labels including Soul Jazz, N-Types Wheel'N'Deal label and Tempa, SBOY035 see's Kutz debut on Shy FX's mighty Digital Soundboy imprint with 'Hypno' and 'Itch'. * The A side 'Hypno' is best described as an 'off-key' dancefloor smasher, bleepy and heavy in production, while the flip double A side 'Itch' enters deeper territory, with warm bass and aggressive sonics. This is not a release you want to sleep on! / Dubstep / [10/14/2010]

[TEMPA051]
V/A : Tempa Allstars Vol. 6 : Tempa : 2x12"
Tempa Allstars takes the NBA's Dream Team premise and applies it to bass music with delightful results. The 6th edition in the Tempa Allstars collection provides a trusted filter to bass music enthusiasts in a time where music is so readily available that it's becoming increasingly more challenging to discover its real highlights, especially on the underground. * Skream opens Allstars 6 with 'Rollin Kicks' (A1), and it does exactly what it says on the tin. The payoff here comes with giving yourself to the progressive nature of the track-long time followers of Skream's production will recognise this as one of the many styles in the pioneers arsenal whilst relative newcomers may be surprised by this progressive and nuanced technique from the master. * For those who've not kept one eye on the brilliant and diverse output DnB producers such as dBridge and indeed Shogun Audio have been putting out there, this may be your first introduction to Icicle. With 'Anything' (B1) wicked production value gives weight to his bass notes and shine to the shuffling metallic percussion. Icicle is joined by fellow samurai from the Shogun camp, Alix Perez, who sends a an elastic bassline searching through a corridor of muffled voices, distorted synth lines and seemingly echoing chasms, bringing Allstars 6 to a close with 'Untitled' (D2). * In between Icicle and Alix are three of the most exciting beatsmiths our generation has sprouted so far. Falty DL comes with a short and sweet, sunshine offering in the form of 'Sunday' (B2) a lush riddim perfect for the British BBQ and at under 3 minutes the sun may still be shining before it's time to replace the plates with Benga's 'I Come From London' (C1); swung with the indomitable swagger that oozes from the S. Londoner, cricket like whistles adding high energy frenzy to the rolling bass and percussion jamboree. Remixer du jour, SBTRKT is having a strong 2010 so far with his music finding its way into the boxes of some of electronic musics most discerning DJs and he doesn't falter on 'Sleep In Tokyo', an early hours backdrop for cities which never sleep. / Dubstep / [10/14/2010]

[BLX01]
Unltd : Billion Black : Borrowed Language : 12"
All music is essentially a borrowed language; indebted to its forebears, but dependent on those who care enough about it to expand and perpetuate it. With all this in mind, Borrowed Language, a new label not based out of any city in particular, seeks to give something of substance back rather than contribute to the morass of disposable lifestyle music. Dedicated to releasing forward-thinking material irrespective of genre, Borrowed Language brings you the first release by Chicago's UNLTD.  Emphasizing thoughtful sound design and arrangements, UNLTD delivers four tracks of futuristic dubstep-techno hybrids, spacious with depth and scope to spare. "Power Decline" starts things off with an irresistible ascending/descending riff and some heavy sub-bass, while "Corridors" ratchets up the tension with its intense, claustrophobic atmospheres. "Subversion"'s fractured Autechre-inspired funk and the moody dub-techno textures of "Key Reasons" finish the EP with the same strength and dexterity with which it begins. / Dubstep / Grime / [10/14/2010]

The result is a sublime portion of deep roots dub from one of the leading lights of the UK Dub scene, perfectly at home either testing out the biggest sound system or gently caressing the ears at home. Vibronics are the future sound of dub. * As always, this vinyl only release is a strictly limited edition record - these discs don't hang around for long and soon become highly sought after dub treasures. / Dub / [10/14/2010]
